It wasn't too long ago there was a long thread on Ikea kitchens... just got an email they are on sale for up to 20% off from March 1 - April 28th :thumbsup2

We have our contractor coming out tomorrow to measure, then I'm taking advantage - even though we're not planning on renovations until July. So excited! :dance3:

Oh shoot now I want to redo the cabinets! 20% off seems great. Please keep me posted on what you think it'll end up costing you.

I can't get past the particleboard. Wonder if I could just do door fronts? vs. whole cabinets as mine are wood now.

Dh and I are doing a total remodel. Planning on ikea cabinets. We took the old
"Solid wood" ones down yesterday. Guess what the solid wood boxes where just thin ply wood! They were at least 30 years old old but still in good condition. That made any doubt I had about the ikea boxes disappear.

Plywood is stronger than solid wood. Te plywood prevents the box from warping and makes a solid surface for the solid wood fronts and doors.

I have looked at the Ikea kitchens and they will not hold up for a long time. They don't use dovetailed drawers. They even sell liners because the drawers are metal. They are a low end kitchen. It looks nice but is not a quality kitchen.

At least at my local Ikea the 20% off is only if you buy 3 appliances as well. I believe it then drops to 15% for 1-2 appliances and 10% otherwise (and you need to buy online for the 10%). So assuming a cost of 1000$ per appliance and a typical cost of 5000$ for your kitchen, you get 500$ back with the 10%, and an additionnal 500$ for the three appliances. That is like a 17% sale on appliances when you buy a kitchen. Not bad but not great. Also you get the rebate in gift cards, which is not exactly the same a cash. We'll still go with Ikea when renovating our kitchen this summer!

Must be dependent on the store. My Ikea has the sale as, "Spend $3500 or more, save 10%. Spend $4500 or more, save 20%". No mention of appliances or gift cards :thumbsup2

I have to make a trip to the store, but am debating between the Adel medium brown and the Ramsjo red-brown cabinets. Hard to tell which one I like better online!

And does anyone know if their 36" double sink base cabinet will hold a sink that is NOT from Ikea? They only have one option and I'm not 100% thrilled with it online
