II points question

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I don't remember the answer.

If you call in 2009 for something in 2011 and it is available, do they take your points right away (from 2009) or do they take your 2011 points which is when the trip will take place?

They take the points when the reservation is made. That means as soon as you accept an offered trade.

So, even if you are traveling in 2011, they take your 2009 points if you accept a trade in 2009?
