Hi all,

New DVC members and just looking at some of the II exchange possibilities and wondering how difficult it is to arrange. How does it work? Can you usually get something? Just curious.

Also, if we signed our contract and got the official approval letter, does this mean we are official or are we not considered official until closing? Thanks for your helps guys--I love this site!

i guess it all depends where you want to go and when you want to go, i have seen post about dvc members exchanges came through and i have seen post about dvc members still waiting.
and like me, still waiting for hawaii...........;)

i guess you really wont find out until you just call ms and ask !;)

I'm trying to exchange for Easter Week. I've spoken to MS three times to broaden where I want to go. No luck. They basically told me to maybe think about another week :(

I have elementary age children and I work in the school district too so I'm limited to when I can go away :(

We exchanged a week during summer 2002 for Villa del Palmar in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. I called in January of that year and they had both studios and 1 bedrooms available. We took the one bedroom and recieved a confirmation letter just days later. The resort was nice and clean. Two big pools and a whale slide! There was also a kiddie pool and adults only hot tub. The beach is a bit rough for kids but you can still play in the sand. Over all it was nice if you like the "Mexico" experience.

Well, if can be blunt....be afraid, be very, very afraid. I was SO disappointed. Personally, I would never use them again. It is just not worth the headache. Try trading at TUG first.

DVC is pretty much the typical II trading experience with a few twists, some good and some not. Basically you tell them where and when you want to go and give them as many choices of weeks and units as possible. DVC checks to see if it's available, if not, they can go an ongoing search. If they find what you want, you then have a day or two to say yes or no. Remember that the owners at top resorts during peak times will not deposit their units very often. There are also many other II traders who have trade power just as high as DVC, maybe moreso in some situations, an you are in competion with them. Most exchanges come through at 6 months or closer to travel. Many trades are a downtrade and only you can decide what's best for you and your family. Good luck and ask any follow up questions you like.
