Ignoring PMs

Does it annoy you when you go out of your way to send a nice PM to someone and they never respond?

YES! Recently I sent a nice, supportive PM to someone and I never heard boo back from them. Of course I have no way of knowing if they got it or not or why they didn't reply if they did get it (could have intended to and forgot, for example) and therefore wouldn't say anything to them about it, but I did think that it was rude since I didn't have to send my PM to them.

Absolutely, I find it very annoying and extremely rude.

How long does it take to type a few lines back to someone, or even a few words come to that.

Everyone has been quite kind on these boards. I don't PM often, but when I do, I always get a response.

To be honest, I rarely look at my PM's--until I see a post like this or if I've posted something where I've asked people to PM me. I actually forget their available to use. I figure that I can't be the only one who doesn't pay much attention to them, so I don't take it personally.

It would bother me if I were using my regular email account, though.

I don't know if annoy is the right word, but I did PM someone once and they didn't respond...and that made me start wondering if they thought I was a freak or something...I still wonder that sometimes, actually...

But that was the only PM I never got a response to...

I get excited and start foaming at the mouth when I get a PM. They like me! They really like me!

Yes, it's rude when they don't respond. It takes no time to send back a line to acknowledge you.

Some time ago, one of the "popular" posters around here started a thread about a personal issue. I could relate, so I sent her a detailed p.m. with what I thought was helpful information and support. I wasn't expecting anything when I sent it (I'm not a stalker or looking for a new best friend! ), but a "thank you" sure would have been nice. The lack of any response at all bugs me.

I have to say, though, that 99% of the people I p.m. do respond back, and they are GREAT!!

So, I guess I am guilty. I think it is because it kinda annoys me when I send an e-mail and someone sends back just saying 'thanks'. So I assumed that the PM etiquette was the same. I didn't want the person thinking I was cluttering up their PM box with a one word PM. Oh well, now I know.

I get a little concerned when someone doesn't answer me. I don't want anyone to think I'm weird or stalking them or anything. Just trying to be friendly.

I don't always answer PMs, but I'm not trying to be rude.

Many times I'll get on and read e-mails or messages with no time to respond and then I have every intention of getting on later to respond and don't remember -- or even worse, I'll think I responded when I didn't. I get up at 6 a.m. and just like to read and not really communicate.

Yep, I'm awful at it. I've sent responses days later because I forgot I had a PM. I'm awful at using the PM system.

That has happened to me. I don't take it personal. I just don't PM them anymore. Simple as that. Write them off as either unfriendly or the fact that they just don't like PM's. Whatever!!!!! Right?
