..why Egypt?? :confused3

Are you saying it's really not on your top 10 list of relaxing vacation destinations????

We have been on vacations to Europe (Italy, Switzerland, England, France), we have done islands (Hawaii many times, Bahamas), we have cruised twice and neither of us liked it much, so I wanted something DIFFERENT. Egyptian history has always fascinated me. It was my pick this year (my husband and I take turns) and I'm pretty sure he's picking Costa Rica next so I wanted to go in a different direction.

It's our 25th anniversary. We are still happily married, even have survived raising each other's kids, so to heck with it, let's do something off the wall.

I figured out why I can only see a red x in a box. It violates our parental controls. :rotfl2:

Egypt sounds fun, Pakey. I would love to travel more.

As for Jersey, been there. My grandparents had a lovely house that they lived in for over 50 years in Old Bridge which was bulldozed to build a highway.

Sounds like the expansion of Route 9. Nothing stands in the way of progress in the more populated states. :sad1:

Probably. They and all their neighbors had to sell and leave. Progress...

There are lots of debates going on Texas about highways, too. The Trans Texas Corridor can really get people riled up.

It truly saddens me when people live in a house for many, many years and then all of a sudden the government comes in and takes over. There was a story a few years back about a little old lady in Atlantic City who refused to sell. They actually built the hotels/casinos (whatever it was) on both sides of her house. She shared a common wall with them, but still refused to move. I say good for her. Way to stick it to the man! (I'm such a rebel rouser)

I have more of the shot foot story. Apparently, he keeps it on safety and doesn't keep a round chambered, so he doesn't really know how it happened. His dad, nephew, wife and 3 kids were with him. The oldest child is a month younger than my son. I couldn't imagine. They had a 30 min drive before they were able to meet up with the ambulance because they were out on a ranch hunting hog. A new foot text looks much better, but he's got a long way to go. He'll have surgery on Thursday with the same doctor who will operate on DH's hands. He's supposed to be the best in Austin. I feel so bad for him and his family. :sad2:

Thank God it didn't turn into a family tragedy. I will say a prayer for his speedy recovery.

Oh, and I guess I was right -- check the gun for fingerprints. ;)

Strickly speaking, most accidental shootings happen with an unloaded gun and the safety is always on..Yes, I have read actual reports where the "victim" will state that.

some have even claimed they had checked the weapon.

:lmao:

He did not check. I think that's what he normally does and assumed that's how it was. It's a hair trigger and when he pulled it up, he shot himself. He's pretty lucky, I think. It tore up the side of his pants, but didn't hit his leg. The docs said that keeping his boot on saved his foot.
