If you've never been to Disney why are you deciding to go now?

I'm sincerely curious as to why people that have never been to Disney are deciding to take trips during COVID. Limited dining, limited experiences, limited hours, mask wearing, limited magic, all at the same Disney price..... what is making you want to go? I understand if you've been there multiple times, you've already experienced all of the Disney Magic, and are willing to give some of it up.

I especially cringe when I see references that this will be their "once in a life time trip".

many people just are not afraid of covid. the prospects of low crowds and low wait times is appealing. not to mention cheap airfare.

While we go often, we decide for a last minute christmas trip to see the decorations again....my oldest is turning 20 soon and has not seen the christmas decorations since she was 6. We are bringing her boyfriend for his first ever disney trip.

I'd go in a heartbeat if masks we're required, but I've been there multiple times, so it's really not a big deal to not have shows/fireworks etc. But truly my question is directed towards someone who has never gone.

We go twice a year and we cancelled December since Disney is a shell of itself right now. We are water park, hoop dee doo, park hopping people and this situation down there just sucks right now with masks and all. Going for the first time right now, well, if the pricing doesn't turn first timers off from ever coming again then I guess the lack of stuff to do might.

We figure the world has changed and we may never see the kind of awesome Disney was before this so I say to first timers, GO FOR IT, may me worse next year.

If they've never been how do they know what they're missing?

Well I guess you may have a point, as many don't plan as much as me. But if you're on this board I assume you're doing some sort of investigation and realize you're missing some experiences. I couldn't imagine one would spend so much money and not look up what will be missing due to COVID. But again, I guess some aren't crazy planners like the rest if us here on DIS.😁

The beauty of Disney parks is that they offer many different experiences, obviously this is pre covid. Now a new visitor might be enticed to come if they enjoy high quality attractions and varied food options.
Many on these boards have expressed the facts that they don't care about shows, characters or entertainment so they're perfectly fine with what's offered
Park guests are not one size fits all.

I have been to Disney as a youth, but this month was my first trip as an adult and I planned it on purpose because of the lighter crowds and absence of FastPass and 6 month early dining reservations. It was an easier trip to plan and not feeling like we were crushed in with 100,000 other people was AMAZING. Did not care one bit about the things that were missing. We can't watch fireworks anyway, DD is 4 and can't stay up that late. And I can take or leave a parade. I guess if you are rides focused or just crowd averse, now is a really good time to go. Also there is definitely an element of what yulilin3 said - you can't miss what you don't know about. We had never used DME before and so it was still magical for us, despite having to collect our own bags.

We are actually heading down to Universal for the Orlando Informer meetup event, and we decided to do a Disney day because my son plans to propose to his GF at Be Our Guest. It will be her first time there...

We have been once in 2014 when my older kids were 4 and 5 and this will be my 6 year old daughter’s first trip. I will be honest and say that I wish we were not going right now, especially with COVID cases rising, but we are stuck in a DVC rental contract I made in January last year and can’t change or cancel. I have really struggled knowing that she will not get to have the same magical experiences that my oldest daughter had, especially because she is even more Disney-obsessed than either of my older kids ever were. No BBB, no meeting the princesses, no getting autographs, no MVMCP.... My husband does not like crowds and is not a Disney fan so we will not be back for years, long after she has outgrown this magical age when she still believes the characters are “real.” But I have decided I need to focus on how excited she is going to be and how she will not know everything she is missing in the same way that I do after experiencing it with my older 2. She has been begging to go to Disney World since she was 2 years old and I am sure she will absolutely love it and we will all love watching her joy and excitement.
