This year will be my first DVC meeting, I hope. We're members at VWL, but won't be there that week. But I really want to go to the OKW one the following week, when I am there. For one thing, we LOVE OKW, and wish we'd joined there. But....
I'm just so afraid that since I'm not a member at OKW, someone will be at the door to take my name and info, and I won't get in since I'm not a member there. Exactly how does it work when you get there? Is it just a big room that you can unobtrusively walk in? Help, I'm so afraid of problems-or am I worried about nothing?

DVC members are welcome to attend any of the meetings. You will not be made to feel unwelcome.

Each meeting will provide information specific to that resort, so you won't get much VWL info at the OKW meeting.

The business portion of the meeting is carefully scripted and will take about 10 minutes. This part is when the budget will be approved and any changes to the board will be voted on.

The next part of the meeting will include comments from the General Manager of the resort who will outline accomplishments from the past year and plans for the coming year at that resort.
This will be followed by a question/answer session where questions from those in attendance are welcomed. Some will be legitimate questions and others will be comment/complaints specific to the person with the mike ("I tried to make a reservation at BWV in mid October for Thanksgiving and was told nothing was available, so I had to reserve at PO on points and I'm upset since rooms were still available for cash reservation" ... or ... "I requested a BW view and got a view of Luna Park and I'm upset").

The entire meeting will last about an hour and DVC Board Members will stay afterwards to answer questions.

The Annual Meeting is well worth attending, regardless which resort you own. Glad you can make one!

Enjoy!

Simba's Mom, you are more than welcome to attend any of the DVC annual meetings. In all the years I have attended the meetings, no one has ever asked me at which resort we are members. They do ask however that we let them know ahead of time that we will be attending the meeting. I usually call when I arrive on WDW property. I agree with Doc that the meetings are well worth attending.

so if the meeting starts at 10am, it will end by 11am sharp?
or will things have a tendency to run over?

and the VWL, BCV, and OKW meetings will all be held at BWV?

how early should you arrive?

just wondering all these things so i can plan whether to attend, figure out the timing of thigns, and if i should shuffle around any PS's.

Where's the schedule???? They are usually always in December, if anyone goes to the Boardwalk, please post someone up about the lack of buses that run to the parks!

Is there any transportation from the other resorts? I was at VWL last year and barely made it in time to BWV due to transportation problems. I'm staying at VWL again this year too. . . If they would give us a bus to take us there it would be nice. Do we have to RSVP this year? I know we did last year but I haven't seen anything on that this year. . .

This schedule was just recieved in the November's Member Clubhouse e-mail that just came a few days ago.;)

VWL- Tuesday Dec 2 (10:00 am)

BCV- Tuesday Dec 2 (2:00 pm)

VB- Fri Dec 5th (2:00 pm)

HH-Mon Dec 8th (9:00 am)

OKW-Wed Dec 10th (10:00 am)

BWV-Wed Dec 10th (2:00 pm)

No special transportation is provided to the meetings- just normal WDW transportation. There has rarely been more than about 200 in attendance at these meetings- often far fewer- tough to justify special transportation.

The schedule is:

Dec 2 - 10:00am VWL, 2:00pm BCV

Dec 10- 10:00am OKW, 2:00pm BWV

These are all held at the BW Convention Center

Also:

Dec 5 - 2:00pm VB (at the resort)

Dec 8 - 9:00am HH (HH Community Hall)

The meetings are usually over within an hour- DVC CM's will usually stay later for questions. Members are free to leave whenever they choose.

While there is opportunity to ask questions and comment on aspects of concern, don't expect any action to be taken at the meeting. If there is a specific issue that can be addressed by resort staff, they will take notes, but larger concerns won't be directly addressed during this meeting format.

Doc thanks for the info. Sounds like I have some transportation planning to do for the meetings!!

DVC Eeyore

From VWL you could take the bus to Epcot (or monorail) and then walk out the International Gateway to the BW Convention Center. You could also take a boat to MK and catch the BWV bus.

From OKW, we have always taken the bus to MGM and then walked to the BW for the meeting (could also catch the boat from MGM). I would allow an hour to get there from another resort using Disney transport- but it may also take 30-40 minutes if all goes well.

Enjoy!

We've always had our own vehicle to get to the annual meeting, but at one time DVC provided transportation from OKW to the site of the meeting. I guess they don't do that any more?

The RSVP usually comes in the mailing we receive prior to the meeting which includes the meeting announcement & the budget info. We usually arrive early so we have time to chat with our DVC frineds - both other members & CMs.

The 2 OKW meetings I've attended did not provide transportation. I've also attended a BWV meeting (as an OKW owner) and no transportation was provided to that either.

It would be worth asking at VWL, if you are attending the VWL meeting. I'd assume they wouldn't provide transportation from VWL to the BWV meeting though.

Enjoy!

so on Tue Dec 2nd, does this mean they won't have their usual Tuesday member update that day?

i forget... where is the Tue member update again? is it Tue-BWV, Thu-OKW?
i'm confused.

thank you, DebbieB!

okay, so we're supposed to be getting official announcements in the mail soon about the Condo meetings then?

they will have RSVP info on those letters?

sorry i have a million questions. :hyper:

oh, and if you are not a OKW member, would you get the letter for the OKW condo meeting?
just wondering how you would RSVP in that case.

I'm wondering the same thing. Since I'm a member at VWL, should I RSVP that I'll go to that one (but I won't), then show up at the OKW meeting, saying I couldn't make the VWL meeting the previous week. At least I'd have RSVP'd that I was going to attend a meeting. Or should I turn it down, since I won't be at VWL. By the way, Doc, I'm not at all concerned that most of the info will relate to OKW, none to VWL-if DH had his way, OKW is where we'd own and the only place he'd ever stay.

In the past, there has been a phone number where you'd RSVP. Many don't RSVP at all and just show up at the meeting. If there is any doubt, call the front desk where you are staying to confirm the meeting. Don't feel any obstacle to attend from DVC- they are happy to have as many members as possible. (They have even suspended requiring the "secret" handshake to get past the Sgt-at-Arms at the meeting. You won't even need the password lke on the website! :smooth: )

Don't worry about which meeting you attend- you will be welcome at any/all you'd be able to attend. Several years ago, they offered fruit/pastries/drinks, but the last couple of years there have been minimal refreshments offered. The RSVP helped plan for the size of the crowd.

Disneyberry & Simba's Mom, you will get the letter for the condo association meeting for the DVC resort that you own. the notices should be sent out soon since the meetings are a month away or less. When you RSVP, just let them know which meeting you will be attending.

When at an annual meeting, members have a chance to ask questions during the Q&A time. If you do not feel comfortable asking a non-OKW question/concern at the OKW meeting, then feel free to remain afterwards (or come early) to speak to individual CMs - example, housekeeping, engineering, accounting, etc.

Doc, several years ago DVC arranged transportation to the annual meeting for the OKW members staying at OKW. That was another reason we used to have to RSVP. Also, years ago we used to get more than coffee, tea & juice, but not any more. And one time Mickey & Minnie visited us at the meeting in their Christmas finest :)!! It was really cute!
