If you're traveling alone, why Disney?

As frequent visitors to WDW I guess everyone here get ofter that comment: "are you going to Disney AGAIN?". And as a single male adult who often travel alone to parks all over the world I get it even more often. But I was a bit surprised to get the question in the thread title by the immigration officer at the Orlando officer. I guess he meets all sort of people who go to Disney. Maybe he was just teasing me.
Am I really so weird to go to Disney alone and even have bought DVC?

You are not weird, I see Disney as a world of art, everything is art in WDW, to see the beauty of Disney you have to have imagination, and that is what you have. So is it weird to have imagination, no, you are very fortunate to have one.

PS. You can always say you are going in Disney to meet women!

Most people think Disney is for kids a family resort so having a single adult going to Disney alone I can see how some uniformed people would think that is a bit out of the ordinary. But do you thing don't worry about everyone else . Obviously many people enjoy going at any age

Immigration officers ask all sorts of questions. I was asked how I as a stay-at-home-parent "got the money for this trip" as I entered England with my son.

Lovely.

For much of my 20's, 30's and early 40's, my answer to "Why Disney again?" was simply: "Disneyland is my 'lab for smiling.'" Those who recognized my right-brained introvert side usually understood. Those that saw me only as a cheerful, bouncy, right-brained extrovert thriving beautifully in a left-brained world might throw me a puzzled look. If they needed more info, I added: "Sometimes, in my life, Disneyland feels like the only place where it is OK to share a smile with strangers. Sometimes I need that safe place to practice smiling."

Gladly, at 40 my world for smiling opened up as I returned to horses. Now mid-50, I've found plenty of safe places to practice smiling ... starting in the paddock across my driveway and at many gatherings of similar horse enthusiasts. (Granted, not all equine-centered gatherings are safe or friendly -- but I'm thrilled to have found big pockets of happy horsey people!)

Edited to add a recent picture of my horses rushing to greet me at the gate. I'm pretty certain one of these is smiling and is eagerly anticipating being with me!

I always feel safe being solo at WDW. Also, I need the mental health relaxation, and everyone I've found is so polite.

What I tell people is:
Whoever pays the piper calls the music.
If someone wants you to go on a vacation and they are willing to pay for it, go and have a great time on them. If you are paying for the trip you go where and when you choose to go.
