If your kids planned the trip...

If you let your kids plan the trip, what would you spend the whole trip doing?

Just thought this might be fun. Let us know their ages, too!

At 10 mos, my DS LOVED the characters. I can't wait to see what he'll be into now that he's 2!

My five year old planned our last day last trip:

We rode Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, and Pirates.

Then we went to EPCOT and rode Spaceship Earth.

If he had his way - each trip would be spent riding those rides over and over. As it was, I think we rode each of those at least 4 times last time!

Mine would want to spend about 70% of their time at the dessert buffet at Chef Mickey's- something about unlimited M&M's and sprinkles really impressed them.

If my daughter (8) planned the trip we would spent all of our time visiting characters, swimming and riding It's A Small World (those dolls creep me out)

If my 4 year old son planned the trip we would be at HS visiting Lightening McQueen and Mater and eating Mickey Ice Cream bars for most of the trip.

My niece (6) would spend her time at MK riding Winnie the Pooh.

At Epcot-Kim Possible and Turtle Talk with Crush

At AK-Safari, FotLK and Nemo.

At DHS-character greets and Playhouse Disney.

If it was up to my daughter we wouldn't do anything but ride Tower of Terror and swim.

If it was up to my son we would do everything Star Wars and eat.

Both of them are crazy about HS. The other parks they can take or leave.

DD6 says she would have us stay at All Star Movies.
1st day at EP to see all the princesses in the Worldshowcase. Ride Soarin', Nemo, watch Turtle Talk.
2nd day at MK to ride Flyin' Carpet, Dumbo, Barnstormer, Peter Pan, POC, and Characters!
3rd day at DHS to ride TSM, StarTours, HSM show.
4th day at AK to see the animals and Nemo show.
5th day at MK for parades and fireworks!!!

What she doesn't know is that this is helping me plan our surprise trip in June!!!

My kids did pretty much do our last trip, even if they did not know it.

My dd picked the resort we stayed at ( all star movies)

They chose most of the places we ate

If they wanted to ride the ride again and again we did

the vacation was about the kids.

In your situation my youngest when she was 2 loved All the Nemo things around the parks. We saw the Nemo show at AK early. Then whenever she saw Nemo she would shout out "Oh, look Nemo show!" And you know all those bubbles on the curtain before they start where they show Nemo swimming around, we heard it very loud for 30 minutes straight. By the time they strated we were wishing they would have made us wait outside longer. That continued everytime she saw Nemo anywhere after that "Look, Nemo show!". Now though it is a great memory. Also, we spent sooo much time just watching the real fish Nemo and Dory at the Living Seas. She was fascinated with it.

Mine are 4.6 and 9...and yeah they pretty much do plan the trip.

I ask them each to give me a restaurant they want to eat at there, then I pick the rest but only pick the ones I know they'd like. We have them each write dowm three rides they must do per park, we then decide how to tour from that. When we have free time we ask them what they want to do.

Honestly I never even thought about planning a trip without making them 100% involved.

If my son (who is 7) planned the trip we would stay at POP and we would spend all day every day riding the Rockin Rollercoaster, TSM, Test Track and Spaceship Earth. oh and Pirates. LOL! We would eat in Japan or Mexico in Epcot or at Cosmic Rays and get a funnel cake in Sleepy Hollow each day along with a trip to Mrs. Potts for shakes. And then in every other waking moment we would swim in the hotel pool or go to DTD and buy snacks at Goofy's and hang out at TREX.

Now if my nine year old son planned the trip we would go do every single thing in every single park and we would eat chicken nuggets or pizza or chicken fried rice. We would still have to get a funnel cake or shakes. We would stay at a CBR or POFQ and we would swim at the crack of dawn or at midnight b/c we would have to fit it in between all the fireworks shows and parades park openings etc. My son was crazy on our trip, LOL! He had the map of the park studying it in the room and planning out our days and where we would eat etc, where as my 7 year old wanted to "stop walking so much and enjoy the pool" LOL! We would go to Disney Quest, we would do both water parks and we would do it all with a small and determination!

I still giggle that we spent 3K+ for them to play in a fancy sandbox last year, but that was their favorite thing, so we visited it a couple of times! --Katie

We do something similar. Everyone gets to choose 1 restaurant and then whatever is left over, we decide as a group. I choose what days we go where, but everone gives me their top 3 list for that day and I work it into the plans. The thing with my kids is that they like everything: thrill rides, other rides, character autographs, pools, eating.... If I left them completely in charge, we would never sleep!

Have only been to Disneyland so here is our perspective:

DD10-Mulholland Falls, California Screamin', jalapeno Mickey pretzel, BTMRR, and Splash Mountain and allll day at the pool.

DD6-Bugs Land, Mickey ice cream sandwich, sitting by Snow White's grotto place and watching the mechanical ducks (steps away from the REAL ducks, mind you!), talking to Peter Pan, riding Peter Pan and Dumbo. And the pool. Like, allll day at the pool.

My boys are Liam (14) and Teiguen (almost 9). Last trip they planned the last day and a half. It included two trips to Innoventions, which we'd already visited! Based on that, here's what I think they'd plan for a week at the World:

We would spend the better part of one day riding Soarin' and Mission Space. The rest of that day and the next three days would be spent at Innoventions. (Yes, I'm proudly raising nerds!) The next day would be spent at the Studios watching the Indy and Lights shows during the day and Fantasmic that night...and riding Star Tours, The Great Movie ride, and Toy Story Mania repeatedly. The next day we would spend alternating riding Buzz and eating cinnamon rolls at the Main Street Bakery.

I don't get the fascination with Innoventions, but I guess when you're a guy all that technology just speaks to you!

My 2 year old girl...It's a Small World...after which she could visit me in the mental hospital!

My boys are 3 and 6 and I try to keep them involved with the planning. I asked them where they wanted to stay this year - both said "The place with the animals" - so we're book at Animal Kingdom again. I said "Dont' you want to try a different place?" "No- we want to see the animals!" I guess it's a good thing we picked the Animal Kingdom Villas as our home resort when we joined DVC!!

Restaurants - DS6 wants to eat at Tony's (so we can do the Lady & the Tramp noodle thing with our spaghetti) and Chef Mickey's (breakfast and dinner). DS3 wants to eat at the dinosaur place (T-Rex Cafe). And my biggest kid (DH) must eat at the Garden Grill every trip.

Rides - DS6 can't wait to ride TOT & Expedition Everest. Those are his top picks, but every time we mention another ride we get "Yeah, I wanna ride that too!" DS3 just wants to ride Dumbo!!

Swim, swim and swim.

Play the games at the pool, watch the movies on the beach, get ice cream and possibly go on the merry go round and maybe the teacups.

They are 4 and 6. Also, probably a dinner at 1900 park faire with cinderella.

We spent HOURS at Tom Sawyer Island. My boys loved it. They also spent a good deal of time at the boneyard before we MADE them move on (no fun, I know, but we had other things we wanted to fit in). I made that same joke to my husband that the things they loved best were things I would laugh if you offered me a vacation package with those as the highlights. But we had a good time with them on the island and we were able to just sit and relax while they played at the boneyard.
