If your kids get lost...

I've never lost any of my 4 kids, but I always try to have them prepared "just in case". Usually, I write my info on an index card and stick it in their pocket, hoping they'll remember it if they ever need it. I know there has to be a better way though...
What do you do??

Take a photo of your kids individually on your phone or camera so that you can show the CM exactly what your child looks like. Also, if you have extra disney luggage tags, write your name, and cell number on the paper and put inside and loop it on their back belt buckle then stick it in their pocket. That way, it isn't likey to fall out or get wet.

I wrote our cell numbers on the tags of their shirts. I also dressed us in matching t-shirts so that they could say, "My Mommy/Daddy has the same shirt." My husband thought it was a silly idea, but sooo many families came up to us and loved the idea. I also had them be able to give a physical description of my DH and I. In our case, because our kids are from China, we told them to say, "My parents are Caucasian." That way, a CM would be looking for an appropriate match.

Great ideas! I do usually take individual pictures in the morning, and I really like the idea of the luggage tag on the belt loop. That way, although the tag is in the pocket, the CMs may see it attached to the belt loop in case the kids forget.

My youngest son has autism and we use a backpack leash for him when he is walking-he's not getting away! But, if he does we just invested in some of the safety tatoos. They seem really cool. The tatoos I got for him say, " I have non-verbal Autism" and there is a place for your cell phone number. I ordered them so my cell phone # is printed on the tatoo.

I also have matching shirts for a couple of days, I make him wear really bright shoes-like bright orange crocs (I can usually find his feet when looking down-he is a little guy so hard to spot in a crowd with tall adults). He doesn't speak and doesn't respond to his name so it's a little scary.

I try my best to overly protect him, but I want to make sure he can still enjoy himself and have fun! Good luck with your kids! I also read somewhere on here that a plain old sharpie can do the trick-just write your cell phone # on their arm.

Have fun!

OMG Jessica -- that is fantastic tip!!! Our little guy is from Guatemala (3.5 yrs), and having 2 caucasian biological children who are older (14 & 11) on top of that -- a CM would look right past us immediately !!! Thank you!!!

my best friend made dog tags for my kids with my and my husbands cell #'s. They were old enough to be able to tell a CM our names and show them the phone number. Plus they had a really cool keepsake. We didnt end up needing it, but my friend lost one of her kids twice and it was a life saver.

We also discussed what to do with our daughter, but she was 12 and 14 on our last 2 trips. (The trip before THOSE, she was only 4, and it would have been a waste of time.)

For example, when walking into the Studios, we pointed out a very specific spot, and agreed that if she got separated from us in the horrendous crowds after Fantasmic, to meet us there.

That won't work with young kids, I know.

When my brother and I were pre-teens, my mother would dress us in RED shirts the day we went to Magic Kingdom. That was so she could spot us easier. We were told that if we got lost to go to the "Castle" and wait there. Nowaday with cell phones, I agree with the idea of writing your info including cell # on something and having it in the childs pocket.
I'll have to laugh or muzz at one scene I witnessed one time at Disney. A mother had two little ones, and each had a leash on them with the mother holding the end of each leash.

We used the office ID pouches you can get at Staples and put one on each of our kids' lanyards. I cut an index card to fit the pouch and printed all our contact information on it, Grandma's # (she did not come with us, so we had that outside contact available for an extreme emergency), along with where we were staying and their allergies. On the other side of the card, we put fun Disney stickers to jazz it up - this side faced "out". They knew to turn the pouch over and show someone our info if we lost them. We got a lot of comments over what a great idea it was. Oh! And we took a picture of them outside the park each day so that if we lost them, in my panicked state of mind I'd be able to tell a CM what they were wearing that day. As soon as we entered a park, we would point out what the CM's looked like and stressed looking for a Disney CM name tag so the kids knew who to go to if they ever got lost. Fortunately, we never lost a child, but I will be using these tips again on this trip, just for peace of mind.

I always taught my son that if we get separated to find someone with a name tag on (Not just WDW, but anywhere) Finding a specific spot can be hard for a child, but finding an employee is usually easy for them.

I ordered silicone bracelets with our cell phone numbers on them from shanrene.com

We bought the dog tags that they sell in the park and put our cell phone numbers on them. Kind of spendy ($12 including chain), but they doubled as a souvenir since we chose their favorite princesses. I bought the tattoos, but they were mangled and illegible within about two hours of application, so I wanted something sturdier.

Our 4 year old knows to show the tag to a cast member if she gets lost, and she loves her necklace. The 2 year old is generally refusing to wear hers, but she stays in the stroller most of the time.

another for the tattoos. I ordered Mickey Mouse tattoos that have... If my parents get lost, please contact them at ##########. These are wonderful. We apply at the beginning of the week and they are still on at the end of the vacation. Best investment!!

* He also has the dog tag but there is a chance that can fall off. He is only 6 and the tattoo is going nowhere.

Where do you get the tattoos?

That's very tricky. They should be imitated by the parents whenever they go to these type of gathering. I would have also done the same.
