I am currently awaiting to get into the Disney system... With the 7mo. window closing in fast what is a realistic approach or expectation for 1br. ressies the week after Thanksgiving???? I realize anything is posssible, but, my home resort is BCV, what are odds of getting a ressie for there? I figure slim at best. If inside the 7mo. window no shot at VWL? What is next best option? I need some help and direction.
Thanks,
Chris

You're best bet is to call MS and let them tell you where there is availability. We'd all just be guessing. That's a very busy time of year for DVC so you may end up on a wait list.

Your odds of getting into BCV or VWL inside the 7 month window are pretty small at that time of year. It's certainly worth a try, though!

In all likelihood, your best chance for a 1 bedroom would be at SSR or OKW, since those resorts are so much larger.

For that time of year, I would probably pick SSR because there are holiday things going on at DTD which would only be a walk away. Convenient to OKW too, but I would probably pick SSR.

when i call for last minute trips at busy DVC times, I will ask what is avail.
9 out of 10 it is SSR. At first I was scared cause of all the haters on these boards. but after 3 last min trips to SSR, I really like the place.

Hi Bobbi,
Can you elaborate?
How is OKW vs SSR to put it that way, during the holidays?
Thanks
Chris

I dont know about OKW because I didn't get over there but SSR had the usual decorations in the Carriage House and throughout the main area: boughs of holly, Christmas tree crowning the reception area and a smaller one in the kid's waiting tv area, lights and ornaments, etc. I didn't notice members erecting their lights on the balconies but I remember seeing a few BWV balconies decorated. We kept our lights and tree inside our room where we could see it.

DTD had Santa Clause in a big Christmas garden outside the Word of Disney store. There was a toy train garden and special concerts in the concert section. Everything was trimmed for the holiday and very packed as the day wore on. I did most of my Christmas shopping there, even stopping off on the way to a park to pick up some things (or getting them after a park closed). I use my Disney Visa and get a 10% discount on all WoD purchases. Since they carry most of what's in the parks, I save money waiting to shop there.

BCV and BWV had their gingerbread houses and a tree in the lobby like SSR. The really massive trees were in AKL and VWL lobbies (they are several stories tall). Each resort had bough trimmings picking up their theme: i.e. VWL had woodsy carvings, AKL had animal ornaments, BWV had red/white/blue ribbons and lights.

I would pick SSR because it's just a walk away from DTD, and there are decorations, of course shopping, and lots of local groups with holiday entertainment scheduled. I like the twinkling lights reflecting on the water as viewed from Congress Park, maybe other places as well, we stayed at Congress Park when we were there one December. I have never stayed in OKW during December, so really it's just a choice of what I know.

We tried to get into BCV and VWL at the 7 month window for that week last year and had no luck (even called from St. Martin on the Disney Cruise!) but we waited for the day of check-out rather than trying day by day. There was availability at BWV, though. If you really want to be close to Epcot that week, BWV would be a fine alternative. It's just not my theming choice.

We were very happy at SSR - the pools were great, the resort was relaxing, and we had easy access to all the parks, never a long wait for anything. The proximity to DD was a real bonus. We didn't expect to spend much time over there, but ended up there a lot, and enjoyed the walk. you can also see the top level fireworks from Illuminations on that path!

What type of holiday things?

OP- We'll be there the week after Thanksgiving and we are staying at SSR. Requested the Grandstand section.
If you own at BCV then why don't you call now and check? Good luck.

I stayed at OKW in December last year. It was nice but did not have that Christmas feel. I would stay there again but I think SSR would be better as it is close to DTD that has a lot of activity BTW SSR was not avialble when I booked for the first week of Dec. They had studious that would have been avialble the day after we arrived but all the 1 BR and 2 BR were booked. The week you are going would be the week before how busy??????
Both resorts are nice and you will not be disappointed the worst that can happen is you will be a great boat ride away from DTD
