PLEASE do not bring them into work with you.

(I have a trip to Hawaii this Saturday and if I get sick, God help my reaction.)

Please don't take them to the grocery store and let them pick out produce either.:scared1:

My DD is just now getting over the flu, and I can NOT imagine bringing her into work with me; not only for the sake of the other employees, but for HER sake as well! :sad2:

I agree if you or your child is sick STAY HOME!!!!!

I agree, people should not take their sick kids to work, but sometimes it's unavoidable.

I remember having to go with my mom to work when I was sick. She was a single mom, I wasn't old enough to stay home alone, and there was no one else who could watch me. I was sick a lot when I was little and she couldn't take all that time off of work without getting fired. There was no other way.

Agreed. And if they are too sick for school, they are too sick for any public place other than the pediatrician's office.

Actually our pediatrician won't see us either! So my teen is sleeping it off hopefully. There isn't much they can do right now. And Tamiflu isn't for everyone.

Perhaps your work needs a more lenient PTO policy so that people don't have to bring their kids to work.

Enjoy your trip to Hawaii!
(I'd be more concerned about sick people on the plane!)

LOL --- several years ago, our SCHOOL NURSE brought her sick child to work. She tried to hide her on a cot with a curtain pulled around her, but it didn't last long. :confused3

I don't even go into a drug store with my sick child. I go to the drive thru CVS (even though I HATE the one by me).

What! A doctor won't see a sick kid? I can't imagine that. I can't tell you how many times I've taken one of my kids in for what I thought was one thing and they ended up being treated for something else that I couldn't have diagnosed.

I was completely annoyed when a soccer mom was telling me that this morning her kid had a 100.9 temp and she sent her to school:mad::mad::mad::mad: She said the girl never misses a day and fought with her about going..it was easier just to tell her to go to school..Selfish. Didn't even think about anyone else. Imagine the other kids who have managed not to get sick ..now have a class with her..it isn't right.

Some schools are canceling their perfect attendance awards for this reason.

If your children are sick, you need to keep them home. If you are sick, you need to stay home. There are too many people that have medical conditions that cause them to get really sick if exposed to illnesses that they then catch. Do it for them.

I agree. A lot of kids who get sick have to stay home because if they are absent for a certain amount of time in a calender year without a doctor excuse within 48 hours, than the child will be taken away from their family. It's sick and twisted, but it's the law. (Where I live anyway).

Don't you mean that they have to go to school, if their parents cannot afford a physician's visit?

PS: I have been known to take DS to work (when he was younger) if he was under a 24-hr fever ban. For some reason he has had a lifelong tendency to spike fevers inexplicably for a few hours. If a teacher noticed they would send him home and not allow him back in the next day, even though the fever wouldnt return after one dose of ibuprofen. He did it again about two weeks ago, but he's old enough now to stay home alone, so I had him do yardwork.

I actually saw something on the news today where they were telling parents not to take their kids out trick or treating or to Halloween parties on Saturday if they're sick..

Wouldn't that just be common sense? :confused3

A few other places you should NOT take your sick child:

the local indoor children's gym (with large inflatables and tunnel-maze thing)
sports
the park
out to lunch

Also, do not take a sick child or yourself to the Michael Jackson movie - especially if you might have swine flu. Yes, I know it's advertised to only show for two weeks, but you can wait for the subsequent Collector's DVD to come out. :rolleyes1

Potentially killing other people just so you can see the movie is so not right. :sad2:

This is why boards irritate me sometimes..it's hard to tell how the person meant what they posted..to me, it seemed as if you were kind of making fun of what I posted..but I think I am more offended by thinking I would ever go see the MJ movie while I was sick..!! I wouldn't go see it healthy! In fact, I think I would rather take my chances with the swine.:)
