If you where leaving on Sept 15th would you cancell

We are arriving on the 18th. I booked our trip through expedia and haven't even thought about cancelling it. I think everything will be ok before we get there.

We're leaving the 17th driving and aren't thinking about cancelling either. One thing we are going to do is load the trunk up w/ pet food from Costco and drop it off at one of the shelters down there.

that is such a wonderful thing to do. When Hugo hit SC, the bank I worked for took up collecting food, blankets, clothing for victims. My DH and I lugged 4 - 50 lb bags of dogfood to the collection site. I know some people thought we were crazy, but we were thinking that no one was collecting for the dogs. Come to find out, Purina was taking a semi truck filled with dog food out there. It's nice to know that someone cares for the pets when disaster strikes!

I forgot to add to my previous post that the people in Florida are in my thoughts and prayers..hoping that damage to people and property are minimal. Wish we could all take a simultaneous deep breath and blow Frances back out to sea..

Be safe, Florida residents.:wave2:

DH and I are heading down on the 9th...and I hadn't even thought about cancelling! I was having the same thoughts as some previous posts...that the park will be closed over the weekend and probably re-open on Monday. Plenty of time to clean up for our Thursday arrival!!!! :wizard:

I will be down there on the 16th w/a raincoat just in case.

OK you all convinced me we are definatley going!!!

However, There looks like another storm a brewing has anyone heard anything????

I am glad to have stumbled onto this post! Good to know everyone is sticking to their plans. I have no doubt that WDW will be fine by the time we arrive on the 13th.

My concern is the airport! I hope there isn't any structural damage......that would be a mess. I'd heard Charlie did some damage to the SWA wing but within a day or two they were up and running.

Too bad we don't have a "Frances" onsite like we had a "Charlie" for Charlie. It was nice to have someone updating us on the conditions at the parks/ resort.

My prayers are with you guy's in Florida.....especially the ones who are still traveling trying to get out of harms way. God Bless  Stay safe!

Yep - Ivan's brewing...

"To make matters worse, new tropical storm has formed in the eastern Atlantic. Tropical Storm Ivan is located around 750 miles southwest of the Cape Verde Islands. Maximum sustained winds are presently at 45 mph. The forecast calls for the storm to steadily strengthen and move briskly in a generally westward direction. "

I heard that after Charley, it took about 4 hours to clean up the Magic Kingdom. That's pretty quick! We were suppose to arrive today and rescheduled to arrive on Monday. I am hopeful that we will be able to stick with that plan, but we won't know for sure until Frances has her say.

We aren't leaving till Sept 15th so althought the hurricane will be gone the aftermath would still be there.

Would you still plan on going???

We have been looking forward to this trip and have decided to pack extra water bottles in case water is hard to find. If we decide to go what other precautions would you take.

Thanks

We are scheduled to fly down to WDW on Sept 11th. As of right now we are just keeping an eye on the weather channel and will take it a day at a time.

Hi everyone!!!

Glad you are not afraid to return to the mouse house even if we did have 2 hurricanes in less than a month.

Put it this way--if disney opens on Monday--then NOOOOO--do not cancel your trips---come on down.

If you are traveling within 3 or 4 days of the hurricane and plan on flying down--be prepared for delays. This hurricane has impacted flight travel nationwide. It took OIA about 2-3 days once they got going to straigten themselves out. If driving--lots of people will be driving from Georgia and within Florida, back south--so expect the backups and you will be fine. It might take much longer than planned for your drive down.

For those a week or more out post labor day-Frances weekend, keep your plans in place. And I am sure we (who live in or are "stuck" at Disney) will keep you posted about eyewitnesses of damage as well as "official" reports as they come out. Looks like Disney has done lots to prep--from tying light fixtures and hanging signs to prevent them from banging into walls and support structures, to strapping down food and merchandise carts with anchors into the concrete. Just a few of the visual preps that have been witnessed.

You may be tempted to call WDW post Frances to see if everything is okay--they will be very very busy and you may hear a lot "we are assessing the situation"--they like to keep everything positive and that can prove frustrating if you just want to know particulars.

I am posting on as many boards/threads as I can as it pertains to different components of Disney as are other DISers.

A disney spokeswoman said on the news that they have a standby crew of engineers that immediately go out once threatening winds have died down to assess damage.

We are scheduled to fly down on the 15th. I think it's too early to think about canceling. Wait and see what happens with Frances.

Thoughts and prayers for everyone in FL.

We still plan to go and we leave on the 13th. We booked our hotel through priceline so we can't cancel. I wonder what their policy is if you can't get there due to hurricane? Prayers are with all Floridians these next few days.

I read on another thread that hotwire let people cancel/reschedule this weekend due to the severe situation. I think by the 13th you should be okay, but you could always try to call the hotel directly if the parks are to be closed due to damage or if Ivan is due to hit at that time.

We are leaving for Disney on Sept 18. I have not thought about canceling, I am confident that Disney will have things up and running well before then. I am anxious to pump some vacation money into the Florida economy! :D :D

Hope to see you all there!!

I was scheduled to arrive Tomorrow, I rescheduled my arrival to Tueday 9/7. I am still planning on going. Unless there are major power troubles, even with the slower pace of the storm come of Disney should be open by Wednesday.

I'd go. The aftermath should be at least started to clear, and I'm sure any financial recovery the state gets would be very appreciated. I think at that point, Disney will have most of the things up and running and there will be no threat to your safety.

Good luck, whatever you decide.

We are flying out of Logan on the 15th. Tropcial storm Ivan will probably hit landfall in a few days, and it is considerably smaller that Frances (so says the Weather Channel guy), so I'm not worried about aftermath of that.

My aunt called me last night to see if we were still going to WDW. I said, "Of course! Could you think of a better place to be stranded!"

Joking aside, I think it's too early to worry about anything.

See you there!!!!!!!!

DH and I are still leaving on the 11th arriving on the 12th. We are driving and my only concern is gas, which should all be taken care of this week after the hurricane (I hope).
I am quite confident that Disney will be up and running full steam by next week! Spread the pixie dust love!!!
