If you were to take a job at Disney what would you want to do?

If income really didn't matter, DH would want to be one of the boat captains that either goes across the world showcase or taxis people through the boardwalk area. I'd be willing to do just about anything inside that is un food related.

Since I work in the IT field I would like to be an Imagineer. Having a job that your sole purpose is to dream up fun things for people to do. What could be better.

Cool! Dh is in IT and worked at WDW for 3 years but not in imagineering. he was on the team that created the point of sales system that all of the shops and restaurants still use to this day.

That's not totally true - DH and I make good money. I mean, you have to get pretty high up to make a fortune (not going to happen to me LOL!)...but there are tipped hourly positions where the money is great, and managers do OK. I'm sure there are other positions that pay well too.

If I didn't have to worry about money I'd love to work one of the attractions, something with a great theme like Tower of Terror or Haunted Mansion!

I want to be a VIP Tour Guide. They get to go to the parks with families and eat at the nicest restaurants with them!

If not that, I'd like to work at the desk of a resort so I could welcome everyone home.

My neighbor across the street from me, both he and his wife are both in management at WDW. They make no secret that they are just days away from their house going into foreclosure-(they have lived here for almost 10 years, such a shame if it happens) and just 2-3 weeks ago a truck pulled up and towed away a car they had bought last summer.
At the Halloween block party, they both said they were looking for new jobs that paid better money even if it required relocating up north and dealing with cold weather.
I feel terrible for them as it is obvious the stress is getting to them more every day that goes by.

But you do get into the parks for free, let's not forget that little "perk" lol

Already worked for them twice, once in housekeeping and once in custodial. I'm considering looking into being an RN with them once I get through nursing school and get some experience.

I agree! I know plenty of managers and they're fine as far as money goes! I know what a lot of managers make and between two managers, it's not a bad salary at all, a lot of people make less. But I am sorry for your neighbor, I really hope everything works out for them.

This question does make one think!

I'd like to be the engineer of the Magic Kingdom train, work underground(overseeing animatronics), or work in costuming.

I'd also like to oversee upkeep of the Haunted Mansion, or work in the Disney's Days of Christmas shop in DTD.

I'd love to work as a do-over "fairy" at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. There are probably a lot of jobs I'd love to do that I'm not even aware of!

What is a do-over Fairy?

I know I would love to be a greeter in the park. Maybe the one at BBB. To see the faces on thoses little angels when they see the finished result would be truly amazing. I got a sneak peek on my trip last month. One of the CM's at BBB let in in to see what they were doing and I did not have a child. I just asked some questions as I want to do this for my GD on our next trip. It was so magical watching them having their hair and makeup done with the moms snapping pics all the while. They told me that they have them turned away from the mirrors until they were finished so the child sees only the finished product. Talk about magical.

I kick myself forever for turning down the job at the First Aid station in Epcot way back in 1991. I was a newly divorced and didn't want to move my boys away from the family.
My dream job is not at WDW but maybe I could talk them into trying it.
I would love to be a children's tour guide to the parks.
I know there are plenty of parents who go to the parks but don't want their kids "ruining" their adult vacation. I would take them on all the rides and shows that mom and dad want to skip, like 5 times on dumbo.
I do this with my grandson and neice and nephews whenever we travel and their parents get to go on all the adult stuff that the kids are too short for without doing a parent swap.
I wouldn't want to be stuck inside a babysitting room, that is boring, but being able to enjoy WDW with kids would be great.

Those are Fairy Godmothers in Training. How awesome is THAT job title??? My 21yo was one during her CP and really enjoyed it.

Unless you love retail, stay away from the shops! I worked at WOD at DTD and it's exhausingly hard work, lousy hours till you get some seniority (which may take YEARS!) for very little money. We're retired on a comfortable gov't annuity, so we took the jobs for the perks.

My dream job would have to be something sitting down as I'm medically unable to stand for more than a few minutes at a time and walking around all day (or even for an hour) is out of the question.

The only "sitting" jobs I can thing of are ticket sellers and tram/ferry/monorail drivers (and I don't drive - I can, but I don't). Office jobs are held until the incumbent dies LOL!

Since we're discussing dream jobs after retirement this is not that much of an issue. Since we have a nice pension this would just be a supplemental income with the idea of having fun. Dream job? The Writer's Stop in Hollywood Studios. Eventually I'd like to work my way into becoming a facilitator at the Disney Institute.
