which one would you take them to? I am going with some friends to help watch their 2 month old baby while they enjoy an award from his company. They have to see Cirque (great show) one night and have a formal party one night, so that leaves only one night to see a nighttime show, on Saturday March 20.

They are busy till 10 a.m. that day, then they have the rest of the day and night free. I originally was going to spend the afternoon and evening at MK, after eating lunch at Beaches and Cream (they're staying at the Swan, me at the Dolphin). However, my husband says take them to MGM and see Fantasmic, but it's EE that day, and we couldn't show up until 10:30 or so. He says sitting on the curb and jostling the crowd is far worse than sitting in seats and watching a great show while you eat cotton candy. My 23 year old daughter says Illuminations is a not miss, so go there. She says eat dinner at Le Cellier (a family favorite) and then watch the show, and walk back to the room, via the Boardwalk.

I just don't know. They are young, she's 25 and he's 27, both first timers, and love thrill rides. He's an intellect, so Stephen thinks the magic of Spectro would be lost on them.

Any advice????

I would agree with your daughter...IllumiNations!!! No contest. Especially for the 'intellect'!!!

I am sure there will be many opinions on this one.

Mine would be, since they are young, do "Fantasmic" then walk to Epcot and catch "Illuminations". A quick check on the park hours shows MGM closing at 7:30pm that night. That means there would be enough time to watch "Fantasmic" and to walk to Epcot to watch "Reflections of Earth"

The intellect side of them would have to appreciate the complexities of either and/or both of the shows.

If they don't have the park hopper options then by all means go only to "Reflection of Earth"

As an added bonus, since they are at the Swan, it would be a short walk and they could be in the Boardwalk area and enjoy many of the night life activities in that area, then walk to their resort at their leisure.

Tough call between WISHES and Illuminations, but Illuminations might win my vote. Since they're staying at the Swan and World Showcase has such a wonderful feel at night, Illiminations would be an excellent choice. It really is a Must See show.

That said, WISHES is pretty fabulous too, and if they're thrill ride enthusiasts they might enjoy the Mountains in MK. Just remind them to stake out a spot for WISHES well ahead of time.

Actually I vote for Fantasmic. Though Illuminations is nice, Fantasmic is much more intense and dynamic. Agree with your husband that it is more relaxing to sit in bleachers and have a beer than fight crowds at other parks. Also, you have to keep in mind that MK will be packed on a Sat. night. Use FP for the great thrill rides at MGM.

I have to vote for Fantasmic. I think, hands down, it is the greatest show at Disney. I like Illuminations, but if I could only see one, this wouldn't be it.

I like the Fantasmic/Illuminations in one night idea. Fantasmic shows at 7:30, so I wasn't sure if we had enough time to make it to Epcot. But, if Fantasmic only ran 1/2 hour (I'm not sure the length), then that would give us an hour to get from MGM to Epcot.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I think I'll call them tomorrow and discuss these options.

Fantasmic for me, without a doubt. Illuminations come in second.

I was surprised by all the Illumination votes. I really liked it but Fantasmic and Wishes would be my votes any day.

I'd go with Fantasmic. Illuminations second and Wishes third. I love Fantasmic. Its just amazing. Illuminations is cool but just doesnt have the magic of Fantasmic for me. I was kind of disapointed in Wishes because I expected it to be more than just fireworks with nice lights and music. But I went on a foggy misty night and I think my enjoyment may have been hampered by that.

I guess I'll just have to go back and do it again :teeth:

I TOTALLY agree ::yes:: :teeth: ;)

My vote would be Fantasmic or Illuminations and also both if the logistics work. Depending on the time of year EE at MGM won't make to much of an impact and they could still enjoy the park before the show. FWIW - If it were me I would try and hit Epcot for MS and TT in the morning and then walk or take the boat over to MGM for RnRc and ToT and maybe a nice dinner before seeing Fantasmic.

Wishes is my favorite, but in your situation I would go with Illuminations. It's IMO the most "adult" of the three, so the "intellect side" of your friend's DH should enjoy it. Also, LOTS of good restaurant choices!

BTW, I like the above suggestion of MS and TT, then over to MGM for awhile, but I would come back to Epcot for dinner and Illuminations instead of Fantasmic.

If the person is somewhat musical and likes subtlety, then go Wishes. If the person is the "bigger is better" type, then go with Illuminations.

They are all great but if I had only one night I would pick Fantasmic. In fairness I have not seen "Wishes" yet but have seen the Christmas Party show at MK and would still go to Fantasmic first.

Illuminations, Illuminations, Illuminations...on our next trip we plan to be at Epcot at least three of our five nights so we can experience this show...While we love Fantasmic (and have not yet seen the new Wishes show at MK) if we had to pick one we would most certainly head to Epcot!::MickeyMo

Not being a smart-**** or anything, but for those who haven't seen both Wishes AND Illuminations, how can you guys come up with the conclusion that Illuminations is better than Wishes?
