would you choose POP or CBR? With the December codes there is a price difference $180.00. Here are the details
POP
-Pop Warner families will be there
-pay $10.00 a day for refridge

CBR
-free refridge, so really only $130.00 difference
-slightly bigger room for child in a crib

PLEASE help me decide!! Everyone I talk to says the CBR is so-o nice, and I have heard so-so things about the POP, and I know that the Pop Warner crowd might make the pool, food court, and buses crowded, but I guess that can happen any where. PLEASE just give me your 2 cents!!! :teeth:

It depends on how much the cash saved would mean to you - if you wouldn't miss it, go for CBR - but if you would spend that extra cash on things that would make you have a better trip, then do it.

Also, it depends how much time you would spend chilling at your resort. I love spending time in whatever resort i stay at, and dining choices are also important to me - but i know that some people spend a lot of time touring the parks and using the room as a place to crash. It really depends what you want and what you want to do when you get there.

I have never stayed at CBR, but I faced a similar decision between a value resort and POR a couple of years ago. I chose POR and was very glad I did. For that particluar trip it was worth the extra money.

My fridge math says you are going for 5 nights, so if it is only $180 extra in total for 5 nights, really $130 I would always go moderate.

But don't be surprised if you also have organized groups there as well. CBR is often offered as an option for school groups etc. and overflow. We have always gotten two prices for our teams/school trips, AllStar or CBR. Last trip even CBR was full by time our paperwork was done, so our team got to go to CSR. :cool1:

I've stayed at POP twice & loved it. I've read bad reviews about POP's bus service though (we had our van, so we never used the bus). If transportation is an issue for you, maybe POP isn't your best choice.

CBR is a wonderful resort with lots of good space and small quiet pools in every "island". I think you'd love it and it is very worth the extra cash. I just got back from there and had a fabulous time in Aruba.

If you are going to have a crib in the room, even a small "pack and go" I would go with the CBR. We stayed at Pop in Feb with two kids and no extra crib and there just was not enough room. Even the fold up stroller was in the way all the time - we would lean it against the door to get it somewhat out of the way (it was a reg sized stroller, but smaller than a crib). I have never stayed at a moderate, but apparently the rooms are a little bigger. I will never stay in a value again with 4 people - 2 yes.

I've never stayed at Pop but I have stayed at CBR and it's just beautiful. I love palm trees and water (from the landlocked midwest) and just found it to be so relaxing. The food court food was very good, the quiet pools were never crowded, and it was nice to rent a pontoon and go for a ride on the lake. The pool bar also served up some very yummy tropical refreshments!

CBR is the biggest moderate room so with a pack and play I would definitely go for it. Have fun!

As far as I know, the Pop Warner groups only stay at the All Stars. I don't think they book them at Pop unless they have MAJOR overflow such as if 3/4/5 events are all going on at once.

I have stayed at both POP and CBR and enjoyed them both but for that difference in price and the larger room, I would go with CBR.

I have read many times that the groups stay at CBR as overflow or a better choice for them. You may want to call and ask if the groups are scheduled for CBR as well if that is what you are trying to avoid. If they are stay at POR or POFQ.

We were at CBR in May 2005 during the celebration kickoff I didn't feel it was overly crowded even though it was supposedly sold out .We had a beautiful room Jamica 45 .check out safetymom she has wonderful information.

I would pay the extra just to stay at at resort that doesn't have all those teens staying at the same time. Even if they are all well behaved (and not all Pop Warner groups are well supervised), they will crowd the buses, pools and food court. They will be noisy, too.

Best wishes -

Keep in mind that the CBR is a huge resort with notroiously bad bus service. That is, you can have a room that requires that you take more than one bus to get where you want. With a baby, and I presume a stroller, in tow I'd think bus service would be an important consideration in your decision. Go for the POP. $130 a day provides a nice dining experience or two.

If I were you, I would stay at a moderate resort. First of all, you note that your family consists of 5, and I believe that the value resorts are for a family of 4, no matter if one will be in a crib (or "pack and play"). I know little ones generally do not take up much space (except for all of their "gear", LOL), however it is more than the size of the room at a value resort, it is also a fire code violation to have more than 4 in the room. You can always check with the resort on this one.

As far as the POP Warner situation - I also booked a room at POP for Dec., however specifically avoided the week when they will be in Florida. I have never been there during POP Warner, however last March (of 04) we went for a week and stayed at CBR, and for some reason the place was overrun with scantilly clad teens who were very obnoxious. I experienced more than one incident of walking with my 6 y/o to the pool, and these kids would be walking on the path (which is pretty wide to begin with), and would take up the entire width of the path and not budge to allow someone to walk through. Not a big deal as there is grass on either side of the path (or sand), but still - this was just rude and wrong. CBR was nice and we have stayed there several times, however I don't believe I will stay there again. Nothing particular against it other than it is very spread out.The bus service stank as it had to stop at every building along the way. When staying in the furthest building, by the time the bus arrived, it was always standing room only. I think this last time we stayed in Trinidad or something like that, and I was not thrilled as I had requested a building closer to the main pool. DH checked us in and is not one to argue the point, so we ended up being very far from the food court and main pool. It was a pleasant walk for me, but my DD6 was not thrilled with the hike. When DH and DS3-at-the-time joined us at the pool, they took the rental car - nice for them, haha. The grounds are pretty and the rooms were big enough for my family of 4. The added fridge and curtain separating the bathroom/dressing area from the rest of the room was a nice touch. My kids are still young so I feel a value resort will be fine for us, however once they are older, I will go with a moderate or higher. I have heard some good things about POR, and if I were going with a moderate, would choose that over CBR. If my family consisted of 5, a value resort would not even be a consideration.

Good luck

Lori

Hi Everyone :wave2: ,
Well the "deed" is done. We have changed our ressie's from the POP( we could have 5 in the room, 4 in bed and 1 in crib)12/7-12/12 over to the CBR. Just to have the extra space, the kids loved the look of the pool( w/ the slide), and the price w/ Dec. codes we just couldn't say "no". We are just so exited. Thank you all who pitched in your 2 cents! :goodvibes

CBR. Definitely. $130 is not that big of a difference when you consider all that is spent to make the vacation memorable.

Have a GREAT trip!

I would stay at the CBR, or I would not be going to WDW. No value resort is worth the hassle.
