If you were a billionaire...

Agree with others --- your ideas are awesome!!! THEN, I could build a resort for my family on the monorail where we could come and stay any time we wanted to. Love the front of the line pass too!!

Donate money to a multi-billion dollar business....

That was my first reaction, but the spirit of the question is: "If you controlled a billion dollars at Disney, what would you spend it on?"

:thumbsup2:rotfl2: Can't get past this concept either. I guess that I'm too pragmatic. Why on earth would I trust Disney with my $$$ unless it was in the form of being a stockholder??? I wouldn't have to give the money to Disney to create a philanthropic organization, and no way would I donate money to a for-profit business so they could expand their business. You don't get to be a billionaire (or millionaire next door) following that thought process...

I think the OP is trying to suspend disbelief for the purpose of the exercise. You guys who can't get past giving the money to Disney or can't get past not giving the money to starving children or whatever are just spoiling the fun, since I don't think anybody here is actually sitting on a billion with nothing to do with it. :wizard:

If you were a billionaire with too much money to burn. Who happened to love WDW and decided to give Disney a LARGE donation as long as they did what you asked with the money. What would you make them do with said money?

Monorail Expansion and a some expansions/TLC to Epcot and DHS.

I would be the sponsor of JII and return it to something similar to the original. I would update the entire building and develop more imagination attractions inside the building. Basically bring back the ride to it's most popular format, add ways for guests to have fun using their imagination and make the pavilion important again.

I know it's just one pavilion, but I think Epcot needs to get future world back into the future.

Well I haven't been to wdw recently so my list may change when I get back but I would add 2 countries to Epcot World showcase.

1. Greece- I would build a roller coaster/ dark ride of Hades underworld. A greek quick service place that sells gyros and goodies, and a nice greek table service place. character meet and greet with hercules and megara. It would also have a musical stage for Hercules the musical.

2. Brazil- a nice brazilian steakhouse, a new Carnival parade, a water ride based loosely on the Emporers new groove set in amazon jungle.

Hollywood studios would get 3 new restaurants. One would be for character dining with the muppets, one for character dining with star wars characters, and a new quick service food court.

In Magic Kingdom I would add a new 3d movie, a 101 dalmations cruella de ville dark car ride, and a new show in Frontierland. New character dining at Tonys Town Square with Lady and the Tramp and Pinnochio characters.

In Animal Kingdom I would add with 2 more kiddie rides. One based loosely on the Jungle Book and the other on Tarzan. New Tarzan character meet and greet. I would add a forest section with a new fox and the hound ride, and bambi character meet and greet. I would add an Aussie land with more animals and offer a walkabout experience through the outback.(kangaroos, kolas, etc). Character meet and greet with characters from the Rescuers Down Under.

I would also do the mythical creatures land that was orignially proposed. It would have a medieval theme featuring dragons, unicorns, centaurs, etc. There would be tie in to movies like Sword and the Stone, Sleeping Beauty, Pete's Dragon, Brave, and Robin Hood. It would also have a castle with a nice restaurant. There would be a experience for boys like Jedi Training academy where they turn into knights and prices and learn to fight to slay the dragon.

Well thought out; I love it!

I agree with somehow create a more affordable option for bigger families. In one local hotel ALL of the rooms sleep at least 6 (basic queen room have 2 queens and a pull out couch...why does Disney, a family park, not have this?!?). I wouldn't want all of them at values, just because you have a bigger family doesn't mean you don't want some extra perks even if you don't want to splurge on a suite!

Also, more boy stuff. Maybe because we went with just our daughters this time but it just seems very princess centered...everything. Definitely do something Cars/Planes related. I don't understand why they haven't made Tomorrowland Speedway into a Cars themed ride yet, that was one awful, over-hyped ride...

Some really good ideas I like the scholarship one. Something I had never thought of hmm. As for as donating money to a profit driven corporation it is a hypothetical game people.

If I wanted to be all business I would buy a large interest into Walt Disney Corp. Yet than I would have a vested interest in ROI, profits, quarterlies etc. That's why I said "donate" you can't use the money to make more money. Trust me money only buys you so much. It's more of what would you change about Disney if you had a billion or two to burn. Attractions, Resorts, Giveaways.

Wow these ideas are AMAZING! :woohoo:

My mind is all over the place. I obviously couldn't do ALL of this, but here are my thoughts.

I'd add a country or two. I like the idea of Brazil or Greece or Australia. Something VERY different from the US.

Part of me wants to add another ship and do an Asian route like is being buzzed about after the shareholders meeting. Shanghai, Tokyo, Hong Kong?

Part of me wishes they would open a second cruise line tier that was more affordable.

I'd SNATCH Stitch and Bugs Life out faster than anyone could realize. TERRIBLE!

I'd want to do something to Animal Kingdom-- other than Avatarland. Maybe Australia should go there!

I'd add more Pixar to Pixar place in HS. Cars, Monsters, Up!, Nemo, Incredibles.... something! I love the POV video I've seen on YouTube for the Monsters Dark Ride in DL.

:thumbsup2 to affordable rooms for families of five and six. When I first heard about AoA I thought that was going to meet that need, but the rooms for six are expensive suites.
Also :thumbsup2 to more non-princess centered attractions, although not just for boys. I have a DD who loves non-princess fantasy and sci fi. She would much rather battle the dragon than wait for a kiss. She is so excited about a certain float in the new parade. :)

In each park:

DHS: Add better CS options or improve the food at the ones that exist at least. Add more attractions. I like the park and the attractions it has, there just aren't enough if them. Expand Echo Lake with more Star Wars attractions, add more to Pixar Place, etc.

AK: Add another continent. Australia would be ideal but South America could be nice too.

Epcot: Add a couple more countries, with attractions. I enjoy WS but there's not much for families with younger kids to do. Only so many stores and videos before kids are done. Oh, and get rid of Eo and make it something new. Maybe Up! themed? Or at least a movie not represented in the parks yet.

MK: Pretty happy with the park itself, though maybe Tom Sawyer Island should go. Not sure what to put in it's place but I'm sure anything would be better! Definitely upgrade the monorail system!

I would give them 1.5 billion to cover what they wasted on next gen to make them scrap it. Then we could all pretend it never happened.

Then if I had a few billion left, I'd make them build a 5th park called Galactic Kingdom, with different lands all based on a different world in the Star Wars universe.

I would demand a 3BR Grand Villa at Bay Lake be reserved for me and my family 365 days a year.

The parking and transportation system is very out of date and inconvenient. Especially those with children. So the monorail system would definitely be overhauled and expanded. It will have a system similar to major city subways where there's a 1,2,3,4,a,b,c, etc lines. So you don't have to go around a complete circle in order to get to your desired destination.

There definitely should be a whole new park filled with strictly thrill rides. It will bring in a ton more of the older-thrill seeking crowd.

Build a couple more resorts. Value resorts should stay in the "value" price range. Not surprisingly, they still get above families budget during higher peek seasons. Im not saying make them cheap, cause that would cause over crowding, but keep them reasonable for a large family.

I would also offer free class trips, all expenses paid to classes who demonstrate certain things ie. helped a former classmate with an illness and started a fundraiser for them, donated their time to a local charity etc. Id have a team of workers dedicated to researching and verifying this.

:mic:

well, first off, I would tell Warren Buffett to...................:rolleyes1
then, I would start a Disney Appreciation Foundation. It would grant scholarships and higher ed money for not just students with great ideas-but also CAST MEMBERS who never got a higher ed chance, or who would like more. whether marketing, linguistics, math, science or anything .
Then, I would also add Australia to AK. sure, Fosters could be a beer served. But add in the down under animals and make a separate train to do down under, and, and , and, a new OUTBACK CRUISE. Instead of the riverboating, it would be on land.

Then of course, Ro and Kanga would have a dumbo like ride.

after that, I would do the million bucks a mile monorail, linking all the place together. THEN, with the exception of service and emergency roads, take out pavement no parking except outer limits. Monorail lots to everywhere.
restore some nature.

then, well, I would do this:

1 resort for only those over 25. NO KIDS. does not matter if you are hetero or
LGBT, you are all welcome. just no kids. Just one resort.

I would get them to spend the money on more make a wish trips for kids that are poorly, disabled ,underprivileged or had a hard time etc.
I would not give a company making lot of $s money instead of giving it to charity.
