If you Rode Forbidden Journey...POST HERE! :) (Spoilers)

Ok posters, this is getting alittle petty talking about a que not ac'ed!Who cares..:confused3

Simpsons, for example, is'nt AC'ed and have fans to keep you cool before you go inside I don't hear anyone complaining about that. There is alot of ques at DW and Universal that are not.So why all the complaining??

How does it waste more energy than if it were indoors and they ran it all day? It's the same. If the greenhouse is more outdoors than the pictures indicate, that's one thing. But if it's fairly enclosed, you might as well blow cold air in.

Because it's running in an enclosed space and not out into the open. It's simply not the same.

I don't know about you, but I've never seen an outdoor queue section with air conditioning.

The conservatory/greenhouse had high powered round fans and ceiling fans; only the round fans were running yesterday. There is quite a bit of queue in that area, and additional queue railings outside the greenhouse. It was comfortable yesterday, but we walked right through, and I remember thinking it could get pretty hot in there if the line moved slowly.

I didn't mean to start anything asking about the greenhouse, but when I saw the pictures it don't look as open as I see it is now and I just could not imagine standing in a line inside a greenhouse in the Florida sun...even with fans.

I think people are just trying to figure out what is being said and what it means.

I really appreciate the detailed review and the ride picture!!!!! And even the honesty that it was still missing things the poster wanted, and don't think I missed the part where the same poster said she cried! If a land/ride can make you cry even when you want more/different aspects of it, that's a darn good land/ride!

I'm definitely looking forward to reading about bigger men going on this ride. For several reasons, none of which would be remotely interesting to write about here, DH isn't at the weight he wants to be, and we would love to know if he'll even be able to ride. He's been dealing with disappointment about his size for a few years now, and the current stuff is due to a couple of medical problems, but the lifelong weight issues stem from early childhood junk, so when he can't do something because of his weight, it really hurts his feelings, cuts him to the core, especially when he's working SO hard. Knowledge is good. He still can't ride Maliboomer at DCA, but he can ride CA Screamin', and he absolutely hates that he has to wait and actually sit down at Maliboomer to see if he can ride, so it will be so good to actually have "test" seats for him.

But I still look forward to bigger guys posting about their experiences.

Those pictures are amazing. I just want to go through the queue even if it takes 6 hours!

It would be good to get some info about size for all of those who are worrying so much. I would also like to hear from people who ride this and have ridden the Sum of All Thrills at WDW to hear if the seat sizes seem similar.

I'm still so excited! Negative people haven't caused me any concern yet. ;)

Thanks for the 2 replies about scariness. I think I'll try it! I've never rode Simpsons or Spiderman but I love HP.

Is it safe to assume that if you can't fit in HRRR then you won't fit in FJ?

Regarding flip flops and the girl in the photo who had hers looped through her hand...there is no way my kids will wear sneakers in Florida in July.
I don't know how well they would hold onto their flip flops during the ride either.

If you park flip flops in the lockers, will they let you go through the rest of the line and the ride barefoot? :confused3

Someone posted that the TM's have big rubberband type things they were giving people to hold their flip flops on.

I'm not sure of the mechanics, but it's definitely a waste of energy, for the same reason you wouldn't run air conditioning in a car that had the windows down.

Well usually you wouldn't have your windows down if your AC is running, but it doesn't use up more energy to have your windows down than to have them up. The car doesn't know. Car AC is constant, so the conditions you create in the car have nothing to do with how much energy is used.

I realize this has nothing to do with the greenhouse, but I think we've exhausted that.

my DD is the same, but we asked her to wear her Converse for the first day we try for FJ....and she is fine with that....from the sounds of all the bodies rushing in, having toes covered may be a good thing  no one needs a hurt foot at the beginning of their trip!

It doesn't have A/C just as the Jungle Cruise doesn't have A/C in the queue. It wouldn't do much good because it is outside and it does cost electricity to run A/C and would be wasted running it outside. The fans have mist so they cool like the A/C (swamp cooolers) I grew up with. That is the most economical way to cool you when you are outside.

We rode FJ yesterday after the mad rush into Hogwarts, it was a life or death struggle and that was before we got on the ride. It was awesome, kind of a cross between Soarin' and Spiderman with a little Dinosaur in the mix.

For those of you that wear glasses, I would suggest that you keep them on as I was advised to take mine off and missed details that I wouldn't have if I'd had my glasses on. The ride is relatively smooth and I seriously doubt that my glasses would have been in jeopardy. They even went so far as to make us get off our ride vehicle when they saw that the little boy riding with us had on slip on sneekers which they made him put rubber bands on before he was allowed to ride.

All in all, it was a great ride with spiders spitting, fire breathing dragons, the Whomping Willow and Dementors sucking out your soul. My daughter said that the Dark Mark was her favorite part. I just wish we'd had enough time to ride it again with my glasses on.

Snowbunny,

If you have sandals on, they give you big rubberbands to strap around your feet. Do not take the time to put anything in a locker, as you may actually miss the ride. We had one of those plastic water bottles you buy in the park so you can get refills on soda for 79 cents and rather than take the time to put it in a locker, we just threw it out and we were so glad we did because the ride did not operate for too long after we rode it so we more than likely would have not gotten on it at all if we had stopped at the lockers. Your best bet is to get there as early in the morning as possible and don't bring a bag or anything with you that needs to be stored and just go right to the ride as soon as you get there. That's your best chance to get on.

All this talk about height and weight restrictions is starting to worry me...
For those who have been on the ride.... Do you think that at 6'2" and 260 lbs I will be able to ride Forbidden Journey?
The last time I went to Disney I was 60+ lbs heavier and was able to ride pretty much anything with minimal issues. Hopefully it won't be a problem with Forbidden Journey.

This is copied from the main WWoHP thread on this board... a poster who rode FJ YESTERDAY was told they could not ride today because they were too big:

Anyhow a word to the wise, you will not be riding FJ of you fall onto any of the following categories: too tall (6' 3" or taller), too short (under 48"), have wide shoulders (you won't fit width wise in the seats, partially my problem), have a belly (particularly beer bellies, which I don't have BTW). * I'm 5'8" and float between 235 and 240 and today I couldn't ride, but yesterday I could.
