If you Rode Forbidden Journey...POST HERE! :) (Spoilers)

Here's a reply to a couple of questions posted earlier:
Yes there is a child swap right before the loading area; I assume this would also be the "chicken" exit. This is where we were led to exit when the FJ was down and they let us tour the queue.
I saw no express or single rider lines or signs; was told that there were no plans at this point for express line, but who knows? In a number of instances we got conflicting information about the whole event, so fingers crossed.
Also my 2 cents about the "hype"- we three felt FJ , and the enire WWOHP was above and beyond what we hoped for. The attention to theming surpassed WDW. We studied every shop window, hung out in the Hog's Head for 45 minutes and toured the FJ queue twice. We took tons of pics, so as soon as I figure out how to post, I will.
In addition, the whole ambience was one of joy and camaraderie- everyone was smiling, guests and cast members alike. Staff went out of their way to interact and several expressed how happy and lucky they felt to work there. For us, the experience, even with FJ down the second day, was uplifting. Today we're home and wishing we were still there.I would highly urge anyone who asked my opinion to try to get to this preview for onsite guests if it continues. I fell like once it officially opens to the GP, it will be near impossible to enjoy because it will be PACKED- who knows for how long.

It does sound the TM are giving conflicting information. I read someone said that there was an express line but they aren't opening it or putting up the sign until the grand opening. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

A sort of question for those of you who rode it regarding the Chamber of Secrets. I know it was supposedly very fast, and dark, and not easily recognizable by those who aren't die hard Potterholics. But...

Here is what was supposed to happen (and I'm keeping my sources on this secret). We were supposed to enter the chamber, hear parseltongue in the background while we passed those snake heads (a pic of them sitting outside Univ. was posted on the WWoHP thread's earlier pages). Then, just as a basilisk was suppose to eat us, the bench was supposed to invert about 90 degrees and shoot thru the Salizar Slytherin Head's mouth which opened just in time.

Did this happen at all? Just curious to see whether they changed that plan after installation had begun.

Apparently there is an express line which takes you up the stairs, bypassing the greenhouses, to Dumbledore's office where you rejoin the lines. Also, there is supposed to be a singles line that bypasses more and brings you to the common room.

But they won't open those lines until they can keep the ride open for longer than an hour, and the crowds warrant it.

Thank you. I really appreciate your honest thoughts. They actually match the impression I was getting from reading reviews and watching the videos out there.

So funny you should mention the snow. I thought the same thing. Being from Ohio, snow is the last thing I want to see when in Florida, fake or otherwise! It seemed weird in the pictures too, hot and sunny, people in shorts and tank tops and then snow covered roofs and windows, which in some of the pictures the snow just looked soooooo fake.

I mentioned the snow to my daughter, that I wasnt sure if I thought it was cool or not. She said she thought it was absolutely in keeping w HP since they always went to Hogs Meade at Christmas; I was like, oh yeah, makes sense!

It's so hard to remember stuff after just riding it once, but we cant remember an actual Chamber, just the snakes, and my daughter said she thought there was a dead basilisk. Was so hoping to get to ride again so I could note details- you know, the first time enjoy and take it all in, and hope for a second time for details.

We were there for the preview on May 28 as onsite hotel guests. We were among the first 30 people to ride, and then it was down not too long after we rode due to technical difficulties. If you plan on riding FJ, get to the park as early as you possibly can and when they let you into WWOHP, go straight to the castle and get in line for FJ. That's the best way you will have a chance to get on the ride. The whole area of the park is small and the lines will be crazy. There weren't even that many people there for our preview and the shops were very crowded and the lines for the Butter Beer were long. I cannot even imagine what it will be like when the general public is in there. The area just does not seem large enough to accommodate the lines that will form for Olivander's, Butter Beer and FJ. I guess if FJ uses all the winders, that will help. But a good portion of that line is right in the direct sun with no shade so it will be very hot to wait in line until you actually can enter the castle. The ride is incredible, though. We feel very fortunate to have been able to ride it once. We returned the next day and were in line to ride it again, when it shut down and we were instructed to get out of line and then the ride never reopened. It doesn't really go upside down but there is a part where you are up in the air right on your back facing upward. I did feel a little queasy by the end of it but I just had to go on it. It moves around a lot and in many different directions. I think it is kind of a cross between Spiderman and Mummy, but it still is unique in the way it moves and in some of the special effects. I can see where it would be pretty scary for kids, and much of it is very realistic.

More info on the snakes, where, how many, how often and warnings that they are or could be coming would definitely be appreciated. TIA!

There is an interesting discussion on OU this morning (I'm still trying to catch up). Apparently, either Fri. or Sat. a pooh sized guest tried to force the restraint to lock over them and it wouldn't. When they were asked to get off they refused, and it triggered a whole shutdown. This morning, riders are confirming there is now a test bench at the loading area with a TM. They are pulling any guests aside who are questionable and if they can't get a green light at the test seat, they aren't allowed on.

Not trying to start a discussion over the fairness of it, we've been there done that, just trying to impart info.

I dont see what could be unfair about it. There is clearly a limit to what size a person can be for reasons of either safety or mechanical reasons. If people are too big then there is one solution to that.

I just wanted to let everyone know that there is a strong chance this will be reviewed on the DIS Unplugged this week. For those not familiar, that's the official podcast of the DIS and can be found by clicking the link on the bottom of the page. :)

I just can't remember-I can hardly even recall the snakes, but I'm pretty sure they were just in one area. You would have screen, screen, screen, animatronics, for example, so maybe one or two screens with snakes and then maybe animatronics snakes? Maybe not lol! I'm sorry I just cant remember! But I can say that they were not: interspersed thbroughout the ride, just in one section, hmmm, maybe there was a Chamber then!

They are in indeed and are being overly cautious about it. DH is big but not huge, but he has a barrel chest. They pulled him out and made him do the test seat before letting him proceed to the boarding area.

Cannot wait! Pete has said the Universal show/review of HP should be up Monday!

The Knight's Tournament ride at Legoland in CA, which uses the same technology, has a posted weight limit of 220. FJ sounds like it's more about how the weight is distributed and if you can fit in the restraints. Does anyone know if there is a posted height maximum? KT is 6'4".

I don't necessarily mind spiders, but I mind the feeling of one crawling on me. Is it one of those 4D type of things?

The thing I find highly amusing here is the way that people will happily go to Florida that has real live alligators that can eat you, snakes that can eat you or poison you, real spiders that can kill you and yet when they get there they wont go on a ride with pretend spiders in it :)
