If you only have 2-3 days where would you eat?

Our agenda/criteria:

-- Arrive in Orlando Tuesday mid-morning on Jan 4 (after cruise). Planning to stay at Wilderness Lodge given a decent "value season" rate.

-- Our kids are 5&7 and a fancy/dress-up meal is not what we're after. We'd like to experience the "best" family meals while we're there.

-- DH and I like all foods so we're open to trying anything. We've eaten a lot of counter food in past trips (kids were small, we didn't have the luxury of sit-down dining) and we'd like to take advantage of PS this time. We don't mind spending $20 for dinner per adult

Meals we'd like input on:

-- Tuesday lunch (w/friends from Tampa) but not at a park - DTD is fine or a resort restaurant is fine. Total of 8 in party
-- Dinner Tuesday (just the 4 of us, same criteria as lunch)
-- Wed lunch: probably hit MK early so lunch there (LTT?) 4
-- Wed dinner: I'm considering Hollywood Vine at MGM for dinner for the Fantasmic package (but could be convinced to do Mama Melrose too) 4
-- Thurs: AKL or Epcot early, then over to MK . Need lunch and dinner, but dinner will be me and the kids as DH has a 5:00 flight back. I would like to stay at MK for Wishes. I'm totally fine w/doing a PS meal alone with the kids

We are not not into character meals. We'll just be off the cruise with a week of limited numbers of people and LOTS of character interaction so we don't have to eat with them. Our 90 day PS is 10/6 so I have some time but would appreciate any advice on your favorite places to eat.

If this helps in forming your reply:

Tues lunch: (DTD or resort) 8
Tues dinner: (DTD or resort) 4
Wed lunch: (MK) 4
Wed dinner: (MGM for Fantasmic) 4
Thurs lunch: (Epcot or AKL) 4
Thurs dinner: (MK) 3

Thank you!!

we like whispering canyon, the food was good when we were there in Jan( not the l/d skillet but the regular food) and the atmosphere is fun for the Tues dinner since time won't be at a premium

we really enjoyed the food at brown derby lunch, the dinner is a little more expensive so it might be slightly over your $20 limit but a nice relaxing meal for pre fantasmic

thurs i'd eat at epcot as i think it still has the best food in the parks, depending on what you enjoy,, le cellier is good, we also like to just get small "treats" at different counter places and share them to give a lot of things a try for a meal or 2 ... the only bad ones we have had are yakitori house ( bleck meat, frozen green giant veggies, waste of money) and chinese carry out, (we have gotten ok meals there in the past but this time it was grocery store frozen caliber) or maybe go to beaches and cream for a burger and ice cream before mk or or casey's at mk for hot dogs, mainstreet bakery for ice cream sandwiches and assorted treats. the plaza restaurant was good last time we went but some have not cared for it lately. you already are planning on ltt and unless you want crystal palace, not much other than burger /counter stuff at mk (and tony's which no one seems to like, we haven't eaten there in years due to lousy food)

I would suggest Plaza Restaurant at MK - their burgers and shakes are great!!! We also like the GF Cafe - its a nice place for lunch and not too expensive.

For dinners, we've tried Boma's (a family favorite!!), and Jiko - both at AKL. We really enjoyed our dinner, and my 8 yr old DD enjoyed her meal too!! DH & I also tried Artist Point at Wilderness Lodge for dinner and it was great!!!! DD wanted to try the Kids Club and she had a great time - she got to pick what she wanted for dinner (hotdog, FF & choc milk) and she was coloring with markers when we picked her up. There were a couple of kids coloring at the table, and they were all having a good time!! Allison made some new friends!!!

This past trip, we tried Fulton's at Downtown Disney - and had a great meal, great service, great atmosphere!! We also ate at Rainforest Cafe and it was pretty good. The kids really liked it!

At Epcot, I'd suggest trying one of the restaurants in the countries. LeCellier at Canada is one of our favorites. At lunch, there's burgers as well as steaks. We've also eaten at Chefs de France, Nine Dragons, and the restaurants at Italy, Morocco, and Mexico. All the restaurants do have a child's menu.

Enjoy the planning!!!! You may want to check out wdwig.com for the menus at all the Disney restaurants!! Might help you decide!!

How about Ohana or Kona for dinner on Tuesday. You could catch Wishes and EWP from Poly beach.

I would just do counter service on Thursay-with a short trip I wouldn't waste a lot time on meals. I really like Flame Tree BBQ at AK and Tusker is good too.

I, too, would vote for Ohana. We really enjoyed it, and they do have coconut races for the kids! We also like Trail's End Buffet at FW as a family meal. Also. one oth the cheaper buffets. Hollywood & Vine we really enjoyed. Le Cellier in Epcot was great our last trip, but we also like to eat around the world. In Future World, we like the Garden Grill.

Good luck with you choices.

I would have to agree that dinner at Ohanas would be a great idea. If you time it so you are there for the fireworks at MK they dim the lights and play the music. The food was excellent and the service was great.

If I had 2 days I would go to epcot and eat at the German place and the chinese place, they both are my favorite!!!:bounce:
