To give you some idea of how much we prefer Illuminations-in making our plans for our upcoming trip, we originally planned to see each on a different night. But we decided we'd rather just see Illuminations twice, and not see Fantasmic at all.

Well, right now, since we were stupid enough to miss Fantasmic on our last trip, I'd definitely go with Fantasmic!

Now, as for comparing the two, well, I can't exactly do that. We loved Illuminations, though.

Well, I've attempted to see Illuminations twice but due to the crowds and rude people coming up at the last minute to stand in front of my staked out spot, I've yet to really see it, so I would have to go with Fantasmic.

Still hoping to see Illuminations one of these days!

Where is a good place to watch Illuminations that you don't have to stake out hours in advance & guard your spot with your life?

If I had to choose between the two I would choose Fantasmic. It is one of my favorite things at WDW.

My vote is for FANTASMIC! I too have seen them both, but found Fantasmic to be more visually appealing.

Either one of them, though, will be Spectacular!!

FANTASMIC hands down! Illuminations was nice, but Fantasmic was amazing. Just as long as you sit on the side away from the smoke

At this point in time I would choose fantasmic because I have not seen that yet. I have seen Illuminations twice

I would choose Illuminations. You don't have to spend quite as much time looking for a spot to view the fireworks. For Fantasmic I had to wait over 90 minutes to get a semi-decent seat.

Illuminations! I love the music. Fantasmic is great, too, but there is just something special about Illuminations.

depends. if you're going during a crowded time then i'd do the fantasmic dinner package. if it's not a crowded time then it's fairly easy to find a last minute spot for illuminations. fantasmic is awesome and features many characters with fire and laser show against a wall of water. my 14 yo dd and 5 yo ds love it. illuminations is a moving experience, but maybe moreso for adults. illuminations is every night. i'm not sure about fantasmic; i know depending on the crowds they may have 1 or 2 shows on a given night.

I chose Illuminations! DH and I see it everytime we go as we visit EPCOT on our anniversary and that is a GREAT way to end the day!! I like Fantasmic! too, but Illuminations just does more for me.
