If you know you don' t like the topic

I hope that I'm not considered a dead horse beater.

I think that I met my (anti-matter) twin today. I ran into a lady that tried to convert me into a Republican. She just wouldn't give up. It was really scary.:earseek:

I'm trying to just stick to fluff, though!:D

Why open such a thread? Any number of reasons. "Liking" or "not liking" the topic doesn't necessarily enter into the decision to click.

Why add a useless remark? Again, any number of reasons.

As for your understanding or lack thereof of such behavior... well, people are people. ;) I figure that about explains it. :) That's the depths (or shallows) of my understanding anyway.

As a sorta aside, but not entirely OT: I was "neutral" on the topic of this thread, and clicked on it primarily due to curiosity. I replied to it with what may well be deemed a useless remark because I figured it fitting in perhaps an "ornery" kinda way. Or, on second thought, maybe I added my comments just for anyhow. Who knows? I sure don't.

I agree with Cookie and I agree with Beauty. In fact, I'm thinking of one particular person who does both ALL of THE TIME!

I open threads and respond to topics I don't like, like "Who likes burnt hotdogs", for many reasons. Sometimes I don't like the topic but I like the people discussing the topic and just feel like chatting with them. There are a thousand and one reasons why people post whatever they post. ::yes::

I click on almost all the threads at some point (except the riddles and most of the tv threads) and I haven't seen anything really out there today. Of course, it kinda sounds like you're talking about some of the TV threads, so maybe that's why I haven't seen it.

YES, ITA.::yes:: I mean, thanks for CARING but it's MY leisure time and I'll spend it how ever I want.;)

I open all sorts of threads, even the ones I know are going to send my BP soaring. Just a masochist, I guess.;) But I usually refrain from posting a 'useless' remark.:o I mean, unless 'useless' in the form of 'fluff' is what's called for.:D

I think I understand what the OP is saying. I had a thread once asking "what do you put on your subway sandwich" I had one poster reply " I hate subway". That wasnt really answering the question it just seemed to boost their post count. To me they really could have just passed the thread and went to something they were interested in. JMO.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I thought I'd just post here to take up more space.

I admit to being an offender of opening threads that I know will get to me, read POLITICAL THREADS but I do not think I make usless remarks. I am like Van Helsing, my aim is to vanquish the evil.

Better be careful... I believe he has been vanquished

Sorry for the useless remark;)

The OP seems to be defining what is called thread crapping on other sites. It's usually against the rules in those places.

But that is the stuff like people coming into a Survivor thread and posting "why do you care, the show sucks", and I haven't seen that as the problem around here. The issue seems to be thread starters who think this place is some kind of twisted variation of the golden rule... if you can't post something that I want to hear... don't post at all.

Actually, cardaway, I've seen just the scenario you describe on some fo the reality tv threads posted here.

But is that the majority vs. other similar issues? Not from what I have seen.

LOL, Marcie.

I like to read most things, some things I know not to bother with though.

Okay for example,

I like watching some reality shows and post on some of the threads. Sometimes Dan will come into the thread and post a smiley or say something silly which ALWAYS cracks me up and brings a smile to my face. I see no problem at all with something like that. I know Dan doesn't watch reality T.V. but his cute little comments aren't meant to hurt or harm anyone and they actually make me laugh..........

Things like that I see as harmless and funny........heck the threads wouldn't be the same without them!!!!

No thats not what I said and you know it! Isn't it tireing trying to cause controversy??

The original poster said WHY POST TO THINGS THAT DON'T INTEREST YOU????

I was saying when Dan posts to the Survivor threads that its CUTE and HARMLESS and it makes some people laugh so that would be why he would post to something that doesn't interest him.

Unlike others......who will post to ANYTHING they can to cause trouble, hurt feelings and controversy which is stupid and blatantly IGNORANT!
