If you inherited 3 Million dollars what would you do?

Let's see, pay off bills. Mine and some other's family and friends. College and trust funds for my girls. Charities of course.
I'd move, I'm not sure where, but I woudn't be here. I'd buy a new car.
3 million won't be as much later as it is now, so I'll make sure not to waste it. But a disney trip would happen too.

After taxes, I suppose that leaves me with $1.8 million.

1. I wouldn't tell my spouse. ahhh just kidding.
2. Hire a good accountant or financial planner.
3. Fund kids college plan through their 529 plan.
4. Fund an anonymous college scholarship for a high school Senior.
5. Develop the grassy strip down the road into a park with a baseball field and playground equipment.
6. Charity (including church).
7. Splurge on a family reunion (1 week huge beach house on the coast of North Carolina).

Would like to invest about $500,000 in t bonds or something safe.

After taxes I would:

Pay off all our bills

Buy DH a nice pick up ( he sold his 2 years ago so I could buy a nicer car & he's been driving a 2000 Hyundai...bright red...little....if you saw my DH you would giggle as he and the car are opposites)

Tithe to our church

Take my family & friends to Hawaii and I would also go tp WDW & buy into DVC

I would either do some MAJOR remodeling on our current house, or, more likely, we would buy something bigger.

I would buy something useful for the kid's school

Pay off remaining debt.

Remainder to be split between retirement fund and vacation fund.

French Polynesia, a round the world trip that involves every Disney park, Australia, etc

I'd probably still do some sort of work, maybe part-time, because I can't sit still and do nothing for more than 5 minutes

Of course, I'd pay off all debts -mortgage, car, etc. Donate to- ..... I'm not sure, probably Birthrite, some to our church, set up a scholarship at the kids' school, set aside enough money to pay their tuition through high school and college w/some extra for post graduate (med school, maybe?!)

Then, I'd buy a new minivan, let dh get the pick-up truck he REALLY wanted, not the one he had to "settle for", new furniture for our bedroom, son's bedroom, family room, and office. Complete the basement - but pay someone else to do it! - we're drywalling it ourselves now..... Put a fence in, finish landscaping, maybe a pool......

Set aside enough for a nice 2 week vacation every year w/ other little ones

Take 1- 2 months and drive across the country.

Put enough into our plumbing company that we wouldn't have to worry so much every month.

If there is anything left over ! , invest for retirement.

I think about this WAY too much!

I would buy a house in Celebration and furnish it. Take a month long vacation at Disney. Start college funds for 2 kids. I would then buy myself a little red sports car, that only seats 2!

Oh yeah, I'd probably also buy a "new" New Beetle, trading mine in. I'd buy a 1.8 Turbo - put an aftermarket turbo on it to bump it up to 250HP or so. Then I'd trick it out, tastefully, and drive it only around town on the weekends.

I'd put 25% in an account for DD so that it could grow. I'd put 25% in another account. I'd use the money in that account for those situations where I see people in trouble. So many times, I've seen people who just need a little help and wished I had the money to do it. The remainder I would use to open a pet sanctuary for orphaned/abandoned animals.

Pay off the mortgage and debts.

Buy a new house, furnish it out with brand new fixtures and fittings.

Buy 2 new cars - nothing fancy.

Put a substancial amount in some sort of savings account.

Treat my Mum to any trips/things she has always wanted to do.

Have the garden of my new house professional lanscaped.

Fly 1st or Business class to Orlando & stay in the Grand Floridian.

I'd definitely buy DH a plane. And we'd buy the big screen TV right away! And I could replace all the awful college furniture in this house. Pay off the car loan and student loans. Buy me a new car. Convince Bryan that money allows me to have a third cat. And fourth. And fifth. Ahhhh, king sized bed with silk sheets. Flybaby would have a nursery from Pottery Barn. I'm sure I could think of more!

Well, not at first I guess. I'd move back to Pittsburgh so the kids could be near their grandparents. Set up their college funds, buy a nice new BMW each for DH and I. Then, head to Vegas!

How 'bout I buy you guys a place next door? Hrm, then I'd probably have to buy Jen and Chris a place in Florida too! This is getting 'spensive

I would first buy two houses, one in a northern ski area and one in a southern coastal area. Perhaps I would also take a year and just sail around the world. I love boats and think that I could live on one and just go from port to port.

Then perhaps I would start some type of charity that I would run. I would take a lot of weekly vacations to places like WDW, Patagonia and Costa Rica.

Oops, is three million going to cover all of this? Perhaps I would consult someone who understands investments so they could help me stretch my money.

First would be some investments and savings as well as a donation.

I would build my dream house. Then I could also afford for someone to come clean it once a week.

So much would be put into a special savings account for road trips and such.

All of my bills would be paid off and I would trade in my car for one that has a moon roof and heated seats.

There are a few other special things I would do also, including getting some of my friends together.
