...does it die?

I have just come home to a massive spider and had no option but to hoover it (it was behind the unit in the hall and no way could I get near enough to catch it ) :scared1:

So, is it dead or will it crawl back out and haunt me :confused3

I have always wondered that!!!

I am to scared even to hoover them up, i can not get that close to one, i know i am a right baby when it comes to spiders or anything that has more than two legs. :rotfl2:

If you wash them down the plughole they crawl back up the overflow pipe. :teeth:

If it was in the bath, it wouldn't have been a problem - I'd have battered it to death with the shower head :thumbsup2

I hate creepy crawlies, but I can't bear to kill one. This enormous bug flew into the lounge the other week (at night when we had the doors open during what was probably this year's summer). It was the size of a bat. I was literally screaming the place down begging Matt not to let it near me and at the same time telling him not to kill it :rotfl: . Actually, I might have made an exception for this particular bug - even Matt was scared. :rotfl2:

All is well in the household - Rea has come home from school and emptied the hoover for me. I made her jump up and down on the bin bag for good measure :rotfl:

never got out the bath so quick in all my life, next time i'll use hot water to flush it down the plug hole :rotfl2:

Deb, I can cope with any bugs at all except spiders. I know it's completely irrational but I can't bear them. I am still shaking from my encounter and will spend the rest of the day checking dark corners :sad2:

I think it depends what kind of vac you have, Joh - one of those cyclonic (Dyson-type) ones will ensure it's demise but the rest will allow it to live. My DS told me this and he's a science geek so I believe every word he says... Gullible, much..??? :cool2:

I tend to leave them however if DD sees one I have to get rid of it or she will be whimpering all day and night.

Oh you cruel lot. Leave the poor things alone, they catch the flies!!!! I want to complain about the mouse or rat that got into our shed and ate a huge pack of fish food for our koi, poor fish had to starve on Sunday (didn't feel much like eating my lunch as DH made me go down the shed to show me the droppings just before dinner) till we went out and got some food for them!

Best watch out for the child eating spiders of Wales at the GGG then Joh! :thumbsup2

Always wondered this, but tbh we have a Dyson so I tend to leave it running till I can see that it has stopped moving. I am not too fussed about spiders, I can cope with them, moths are my thing - I HATE THEM, to the point where I will end up in tears if there is one of those juicy bodied ones in the house - I just turn into a wimp- there was one in the shop last year and it was hiding in with the balloon weights on the floor - I just sucked it up the vac and wouldn't go near the vac until DH had emptied it. Gives me the creeps just thinking about it!

I always assumed they die if you suck 'em up.
I mean wouldnt the shock give them a heart attack?
