If you have only ever done 4 days and more, can you ever do a 3 day?

It's what you make of it. Go in with the right expectations and you'll have a great time. Just remember that you will only be on the ship for 70 hours total for the 3 nighters, assuming you are on board at 11am and get off at 9am.

8 hours of sleep 3 nights is 24 hours. 46 hours remaining.....

We went on our 1st four night cruise on the Dream last year and everyone in my family complained it was way too short and do not book less than 7 nights next time! Geesh...All I wanted was the Thanks for booking another Disney cruise!! :crazy2:

I might consider a short Disney cruise if it left from our home port, but no way would I fly across the country to do 3 day cruise. We've done shorter 3-4 day coastal cruises on other lines and they just aren't the same. Not nearly as relaxing or enjoyable IMHO.
We live in orlando and have taken many 3 night cruises. They leave on Friday so we miss that day of work but we can be home before 9 am on monday, so we can drop our DD off at preschool and head right to work.

It makes for a nice 3 day weekend without having to miss more than one day of work. Yes, it still seems short but a 3 day cruise sprinkled in a couple of times a year is nice.

We wouldn't fly all the way across the country (continent, actually!) for a 3 day. Having said that, when we plan to tackle WDW for longer (we are only there 2 nights this coming January before a 7 night Fantasy cruise) I could see tacking on a 3 or 4 night cruise on the Dream because (a) we haven't been on that ship yet and (b) hey we're already in Florida, so might as well extend the trip a bit!

I am not sure how you people do disney world in the summer for day after day. We take our DD there 8-10 times a year but usually we get to the park when it opens to knock out the mine train, thunder mountain, and a few other high priority rides. then we hit our fast passes with a few other rides that have short lines and we are out of there and home by 1.

More power to you.

^Thats not possible for the majority of us... I live in Oregon and its quite a flight to get there. ^^;;

It is crazy hot here in the summer. We live in Orlando and go to Disney in the evening when it has cooled down to 85. lol
If we are lucky enough to get rainstorm later in the evening it cools things off nicely. But if it rains too early in the evening (like 5 or so), it really is not all that great. You can always tell those guests who have been there since rope drop by their exhausted faces and eyes. Heat exhaustion is a typical happening during summer. :(

we live in orlando also, but i prefer to go first thing in the morning. The rides dont get busy for a couple of hours and our little one can get a whole day of fun in by noonish. When we put her in the car, she is passed out before we are out of the parking lot.

Score! :)

Our 1st Disney cruise was a 3 night. It was amazing but way too short! I barely wanted to sleep because I didn't want to miss anything. We have a 7 night Fantasy coming up in October and am so looking forward to it and not feeling so rushed.

Our first was a 4 night, then a 5 night double dip, and this Summer we did a 3 night since we were going to FL anyway during that time period. I thought the 3 day would FLY by, but it was good! I don't think it would be good for a first cruise, but being that we have been before, we knew what we wanted to do, etc.

We started out cruising the 4-day Wonder. For years, we only sailed the Wonder because the Magic had the 7 day cruises, while the Wonder took care of the 3 and 4 day cruises. 4 days were perfect for us. Two stops and a sea day. We even sailed on the Dream when it first started sailing. Too big, too crowded. We did not like it, compared to the Wonder.

THEN.....in 2012, the Magic sailed out of NYC. We lived in MA at the time. A disney ship 4 hours from us? NO WAY! We were on it. 8 glorious nights. 4 days at sea, with the same itinerary as a 4 days cruise from PC. My kids were happy that we finally got to sail on the Magic. We now had 3 out of the 4 ships under our belt.

We will be on the Magic again this October out of NYC for a 7 night cruise. My 2 oldest children are adults now (18, 20) and it is going to be the last Disney trip I pay for them. So next year, as I am drooling over which cruise to book sans children, I like the price of the 3 day Dream. I just don't know if I could ever do a 3 day cruise without feeling like something is missing. Something would be missing...the day at sea. I need that day at sea to feel like a vacation. Do people feel rushed on a 3 day?

I'm probably going to book a 3/4 day b2b...but it got me thinking...if you sail the 3 day cruises, is it because you haven't ever been on a longer cruise to know what you're missing? Or is it truly possible to enjoy a 3 day cruise while knowing the longer cruises?
There are occasional 3-night cruises that go to Castaway Cay only and therefore have a day at sea. The Dream will have multiple ones in 2017.

Our first cruise was a 3-night Magic cruise from Miami to CC & back, so we had a day at sea and it was our favorite day of the cruise. A 3-night cruise is worth it for us as long as there is a day at sea, and flying nonstop from Texas to Florida is fine for us.

Sometimes you want a short yet sweet getaway. Being on a cruise is such an "away from it all" feeling that it actually seems longer than it is. We don't feel rushed as we don't try to do everything that's offered on the cruise, just the things that really appeal to us.

The only 3-night cruise we did was in 2009 when they offered a bounce back for $99/person. We couldn't resist that, it was a nice weekend getaway for hubby and I!

We wouldn't do them regularly as to fly from Canada it's not completely worth it to us. We did the 4-night DVC member cruise last year (just to do the member cruise) and we've done a 5-night CC double dip...other than that it's all 7 night and up for us!

I prefer to not go on a 3 night, but have done two of them after doing multiple 7 night ones. My girls are in high school now, so the 3 night still gets us on a cruise which is better than not going at all. We still do a 7 night each year too, but have had a ball on the 3 nights too.

We would do a 3 night cruise if they had more options on the west coast. We do love the 7 nights. It makes travel to and from worth it.

Every person is different, it all depends on your ability to let go of the daily stress:

Personally, I have no problem doing that. I can wake up on a saturday morning, jump in a plane, be in Magic Kingdom in the afternoon and be there 100% and relaxed.

But I know some people can't do that.

And yes, you 3 day will be busy... But rushed? I never feel rush on a cruise. Just the right amount of busy. We thought 3 nights was perfect. 4 nights, excellent (although we got bored for 2-3 hours on sea day).

I would definitely try a B2B, but NEVER would I book a cruise shorter than 7 nights. I say that because it's such a pain to pack. You check in and pretty much check out. o_O

That's just my opinion of course.

DH and I never unpack. Problem solved.

We have done two 2-night cruises, one 3-night, and three 7-night cruises. We have a different packing strategy and a different rhythm on each. For the short cruises we pack much lighter and tend to jump right into the trip. We don't worry booking this and that, changing dinning rotations, etc. We get on and immediately start vacationing. In some ways, my wife and I have found the shorter cruises more relaxing than the longer cruises. We feel less obligated to do anything and we just go about enjoying ourselves. I don't feel like they cram to much in, each day's schedule feels about the same regardless of the cruise length.
