I'm sure this ? has been asked but it won't let me search now.A friend told me that to get DDP you need to buy a pkg that inc tickets. So if have an AP you can't do DDP??? I know DVC you can buy the DDP.

You can order one day tickets with the package for everyone in the party and, after check in, expand each person's ticket to the number of days desired.

The ticket budget needed may be slightly greater because you don't get "advance ticket purchase" discounts.

For those with AP's, save the one day ticket for future use. Be careful not to put it (same card as the room key and dining ID) into a park turnstile.

my family has APs. We booked a package and leave in 6 days :cool1: sorry - i digress......anyway, we are AP holder and we booked the package. the package requires that each person in the room (over the age of 2) has at the minimum a one day base ticket in order to qualify for the free dining for the entire lenght of your stay.

so, the tickets only need to be one day but you can stay for up to 10 days and get the free dining for all of those 10 days.

We are doing it.

the added bonus that i learned from here yesterday.....if i don't use those tickets (just use our APs for our daily park admission) they dont expire. since they were never activacted admission media, they don't expire. (unlike if they were say 3 or 4 day ticket media without the non-expire option purchased for them. If i had used on day they would expire within - what? is it 14 days? something like that.

We will just use those cards for our free dining and as room keys, but we won't use them to get in the parks. We can then use them later or exchange them for credit towards the future purchase of other ticket media. (we will be using them towards the purchase of our next round of APs)

I just wanted to clarify this. If you purchase a base ticket for each person in your party for (1) day, you get free dining for the length of your stay? I thought you had to purchase a base tkt for each of the days you wanted free dining! If this is not so please let me know. Thanks!!!

That is correct I have 1 base ticket for each of 2 continous stay packages so I am getting the disney dining plan for 15 days.

Yes, you are correct. In order to make your stay a qualifying package, you must purchase the SAME ticket for each person on your reservation, and separately from that requirement each person on your reservation must purchase the Dining Plan for the same number of nights as your room reservation - but the ticket purchase does NOT have to match the Dining Plan purchase.

Just wanted to note that it is not FREE DINING - that was a special promotion for specific dates & the booking deadline for that has already passed. You may PURCHASE the dining plan for each person however.

In addition to having to purchase a minimum of 1 day park admission you also "give up" any possible AP discount on the room.

I too am an AP holder going next week on the free dining. I booked 2 rooms-1 with myself, my friend, my DD with 1 day passes as the 3 of us have AP's. I booked the other room with DH, friend's DH, DS, DD with 8 day park hoppers. I figured out that I was paying $700 more for the rooms with free dining than I would have if I booked 2 rooms with AP discount and got the 8 day hoppers for those that needed them. Now I will have about $200 worth of extra tickets for a future trip. I know I would have spent way more then $500 or even $700 on dining for the 7 of us for 7 nights. BUT...if dining wasn't free (and it usually is NOT) it would not have been worth it to give up my AP room discount, buy tickets I didn't need, and pay for the dining package.

No. You do not get free dining. There was a free dining promotion. It is going on now but the booking period has long passed. You do, however, still need to purchase a one day base ticket for each member of the group in order to PURCHASE the dining plan.
