If we use a room only discount and hold an AP, can you still add on a Dining Plan or do you have to buy at least a one day ticket to add the Dining Plan?
If at least one person in the room has an ap, you can add the dining plan to an ap rate room. This changes you to a ticketless package, and you are bound by the payment schedule of a package. You cannot, however, get free dining without purchasing tickets.
Thanks. But can you get the "room only" discounts that are offered to the general public, use your AP and upgrade to a package to include a dining plan.
I wasn't sure if AP rates are always as good as the general public discounts or pins that sometimes are sent out. We already have a "room only" pin. Was just trying to decide on buying APs as we want to go back at Christmas and possibly next spring break, so it would be cheaper to buy APs.
I knew you couldn't get free dining though when using another discount.
You can only add a dining plan without purchasing tickets if you have an AP room rate. You are unable to add a dining plan without purchasing tickets to a general public room offer or a pin code offer requardless if you have an ap or not.

You can book a room at rack rate or with an AP discount and add dining, you just can't book a bounceback offer or a GP room discount without buying at least one day tickets for everyone in the room. For example, I booked a trip last fall for May 1st-9th at rack rate and told the CM I had an AP and wanted to add the DDP. No problem and I didn't have to buy any park tickets I didn't need. Then when I was there in Dec, I took advantage of the 35% off bounceback offer and had her apply it to my existing May ressie. I had to add a one day park ticket at that time though in order to add the DDP. My AP didn't do me any good. I had been home about a week when the AP discounts came out. I called back and applied that discount instead. With that deal, I got an extra 5% off the room and was able to cancel the one day ticket I didn't need.
I currently have 35% off bounceback deals booked for Oct 23rd-31st and Dec 4th-12th. With both of those deals, I had to buy one day park tickets, despite having an AP. However, if an AP discount comes out for those dates, I'll be canceling them and booking with that offer instead. I'd expect the % off would be just a tad better and I wouldn't have to buy any more one day tickets I don't need.
There are AP ticketless packages to be booked. However you may want a different offer has certain requirements, such as a MYW ticket for all those on the res. Then an AP-er has to meet those requirements just like everyone else.
I think some figure they have a room booked with an AP rate, and it is just a matter of adding a dining plan.
When actually they would be going from a room only res to a WDTC package.
