Little about our party - 4 adults, 12 twin boys, and 4DD - this will be DD first trip and as much as she loves the princesses it is tough to really capture all of them -- if you ask her who she wants to meet -- she will list them all off. We are going to do Anna and Else Meet and will work in Cinderella and Elena. (some of her top choices)

We have a few character meals at some of the better character restaurants (tusker and crystal palace) but from reviews of Akershus it seems you are really paying for the princess meets and the food is just adequate. We are a family of foodies -- even the 12yo boys. So to pay for a just so-so meal is not thrilling me. We have Biergarten and loved the food and the environment/show/theme in there - this is what we have booked for our Epcot evening.

(It is during Flower and Garden so even Biergarten is on the possible chopping block because of the variety of food offerings at the food carts.)

What can you say about Akershus that should push us towards that vs Biergarten?

Any chance you could do Akershus breakfast & meet all the princesses and then do Biergarten for dinner?

I guess I'd point out that as a "family of foodies" neither the food at Biergarten nor Akershus will hit that standard.

I think if you found Biergarten to be okay, Akershus would hit that same standard. It has a good atmosphere (you're in a castle) and the meatballs hit about an IKEA standard.

I would agree with this. I would say the mediocre food at Akershus is on par with the mediocre food at Biergarten. If it's really only between these two restaurants, I would pick which entertainment appeals to you more and choose from there. If you want better food, go somewhere else altogether like Spice Road Table.

Funny how food is so subjective. We find the food at Biergarten mostly inedible. Very underwhelmed.

But it sounds like since you like Biergarten you should do that.

Can’t speak to the Akershus dinner food, but we like the breakfast there. We like to do that and then eat World Showcase counter service for subsequent meals.

We also like to do a princess meal so we aren’t wasting time waiting in line for too many princess M&G.

We love Biergarten. My DDs love the show and we find the food good with lots of variety.

Akershus was the worst meal we have had in 15+ trips. All 6 of our entrees were inedible. It's the only restaurant I wouldn't go back to. Maybe we had a bad meal, but we aren't picky eaters and generally don't write places off.

DH and I tried Biergarten for dinner last year and neither of us were impressed. The food was nothing special at all. I'm just glad we were on the DP so we didn't have to pay for that out of pocket. I've never tried Akershus so I can't comment on that, but I feel like there are so many better choices at Epcot for dinner than Biergarten.

I know what the man would say: Biergarten.
Of course he neither plans the trip, books the ADRs or works through the details of the traveling itinerary sooooo I guess there's a strong chance I'll forget to book it. Oops.
DGD is 12 y/o and over the Princess phase and character meets in general.

With 2 princesses of my own I have eaten at Akershus 4 times. The food isn't bad the breakfast is decent and worth every penny for the look on the girls faces when we went.

We have ate at Akershus a couple times and haven't had a bad meal. Character interaction is good there as well, so I would give it a go.

Love the atmosphere and music at Biergarten; did not love the food. Akershus on the other hand, was a very pleasant surprise. It has an extensive salad/appetizer bar with a good variety of seafood, meats, cheeses and rolls. I could have that as my main meal itself! But the lunch I ordered (grilled chicken sandwich with lingonberry jam) was truly delicious. The rest of my family also enjoyed their meals, which was great, as we did not go there for the princesses...just to try the food.

Food is subjective as others have said. We've done both places. I like the atmosphere of biergarten. I liked the food better than akershus and that meatball but I did like the cold bar they had at akershus and thank goodness for it or I would have walked away hungry. Just today my mom said she was underwhelmed with Akershus but doesn't enjoy german or vinegar based foods so she would not pick either. I do think Akershus is worth for seeing the princesses and the cold bar.

We’ve only done breakfast at Akershus. It was wonderful in 2012, but disappointing in 2015. Princesses are easy enough to meet in the parks.
