If you had to choose between the Disney After Hours event and Christmas Party which one is better to attend? Is the crowd worth going to both and having extra time in the parks.

For me DAH hands down. If you're hoping to do the event for more time to go on rides skip the Christmas Party because it's too crowded. If the thought of an extra parade and special fireworks show appeals to you maybe do both.

We planned to go to Christmas Party on Dec 10th but they announced the DAH for Dec 9th so not sure I want to go to MK back to back days. Is the AK just as good?

I've never done the AK one, AK is my least favorite park. I do think there are more rides at MK making it a better value in my mind. It would be two days back to back at MK, but it would be doing totally different things. If you go to the Christmas party I would focus on the party activities and meet and greets that day and not bother with too many rides.

I’ve never been, even though AK is my favorite park, but from what I’ve read it’s pretty good. I read, however, that because AK DAH doesn’t have Africa, shows, and streetmosphere, it sort of takes away from the AK experience as a whole.

I think it depends on what you're going for. Less wait times on attractions then DAH. A event to get me in the holiday spirit then for sure MVMCP. I don't necessarily do the parties for less crowded attractions but more for the parades and fireworks. It would be easier this year since Disney has decided not to offer any MK DAH events when we'll be down there, much to my chagrin.

I didn't vote because I have done neither. But based on the reviews and info, I would choose DAH hands down.

That's a tough one. If you really want the holiday time in the park (parade, fireworks, christmas themed characters and such) go for the party. If you main draw is more rides with less crowds - go with after hours. They are both fun but for different reasons.

Oh, and I agree with others - if you want to get stuff done, then DAH. If you want to get in a festive mood and/or experience special parades, character meets, and fireworks, then MVMCP

I voted for the Christmas party because the question was what would I choose. From the follow-up question about crowds, though, you may have a better time with DAH. I really enjoy the parties because there is so much to do that's not offered on a normal day in MK (special parade, special fireworks, shows, special snacks, special meet and greets...). It's more than enough to fill the time even without riding any attractions. But if all you really want are lower crowds? Do DAH, not the party. The party will disappoint you if your main concern is smaller lines for attractions.

I think it depends if you're going for less crowds on the rides (DAH) or for the fireworks and characters (MVMCP)

It would depend what your goals are. If your goal is rides, then DAH is great for that! If you goal is a uniquely fun time...with some rides maybe..., but characters and fun (free) food and SANTA!, then the Party is what you should do. I love both.
