What a good thread CarolMN!--good selection to pick from too. FOTL isn't as important to me because fastpass is available.
My "biggie" is of course the discounted AP for DVC members ;) :D. I'd like to see more along the lines of 20% with whatever limitations. At the least, equal to Florida residents discount(s).

I voted FOTL, because it seems far and away to give the most value. What's an AP now, $450, $500? So 10% is a saving of $45-50. Think about it - would you pay $50/year for an unlimited FP? I think this would be significant, particularly for those who go to WDW during the summer, over holidays; they wouldn't have to worry about the incredible, multi-hour lines.
I voted for the AP discount, but I think you're on to something here.

Having FOTL access would have a much higher value... What's better saving 10% on a ticket price, or having far more park "productivity" with FOTL.

Assume a ride with a typical SB line of 30 min will likely have cooresponding FP lineup of say 5 min. FP is an 83% improvement!!! Way better value than a 10% price discount.. :hyper:

May actually be a good deal for Disney too.

Can I change my vote?

I voted for guarantee non-smoking. But I would also like more dicounts, I remember reading while at Vero that if you shopped on Wednesday, you got a discount at the store, well we came in on Thursday and left on Tuesday!!! I should be a show our card and get a discount, would also like the dining discount. though it seems more and more restaurants are giving discounts

Because we've yet to make our first trip to WDW as DVC members, I'm leaning more towards those things that would make park visits more enjoyable:

1) FOTL (that would be wonderful on those HOT HOT HOT Florida summer days :sunny: and you'd certainly be able to cover a lot more of the parks if you didn't have to wait -- outside of using the Fast Passes)

2) AP discount

I ended up picking the viewing area for DVCers and guests. I would like a discount on Ticket Media. But I would like to be able to receive the discount for everyone in my traveling party .

Carol...this is the hardest poll I've ever voted on! Lots of excellent choices here, and so many of them could be instituted by Disney at no cost!

But in the end, I ended up voting for "Make HA, S & N/S guaranteed categories at the time of reservation".

Honestly, I'd like to see the Smoking/Non Smoking as the guarantees. I understand the concerns about getting HA rooms, but to me that's not as big of a deal as getting a room that smells of smoke.

But you almost got me with that FOTL option! :p

I would go for the AP as it is a direct cost savings.

I would hate to have pets allowed in rooms. So many are allergic to cats and/or dogs. I'm allergic to dogs myself and have asthmatic attacks when around dogs. They would have to have Pet Only rooms like the Smoking rooms and oh the uproar when they take away prime rooms or when someone with a pet with FLEAS gets into the hotel. I find just the thought of this a nightmare!

Having said that - I do believe there needs to be reasonable accomodations for service pets - but those of us with life-threatening allergies/asthma issues with pets need to be considered right up there also.

Wow, interesting poll! Tough answer as there were several that I considered particularly worthwhile "if I had the power".

I voted AP discount because I believe it would affect the greatest number of members in a positive way. And I still suspect that Disney would benefit as well from the increased spending on property a discount would facilitate.

I voted for the AP discount. Before DVC, we always used the length of stay pass, because we wanted the freedom to go where and when we wanted and we all loved the water parks. Now when we go, we're finding that the concerts at Epcot cause us to use the PHP on days we really wanted to set aside as resort days. So, AP or PAP will give us the flexibility we always had.

I JUST ordered PHP+ for our Dec. trip. Now I notice that Chubby Checker will be at Epcot when we're at VWL after the cruise, so there goes a day on the PHP+ for a concert. Can I "trade" the unused (I'll be picking up at the will call window) PHP for an annual pass then and there? It seems like we will be getting 9 park days or more in 365 days.

There were a couple of things on that list I considered, but a discount on APs is the one I REALLY care about!

All of the above! Well nearly all... I would pass on the pets and the fireworks/parade viewing areas. Everything else sounds good and I'll have a hard time deciding what to vote for! Let's all appoint CarolMN to be director of the new DVC PET (Policy Enforcement Team)! :teeth:

I'm glad everyone is having a little fun with this.

I spent a lot of time thinking about it before I posted as I didn't want to start any debates or anything that might turn nasty. Tried to think of things that might actually be possible or could actually happen in the future. That's why the AP/PAP discount is only 10% (instead of free, LOL) and why the word "reasonable" appears every so often.

I am actually surprised at the number of votes some options are getting or not getting. When you have to make tough choices, you find out what you really think is important. Some of the things that generate a lot of passionate posts around here aren't getting all that many votes. :teeth:

I voted for FOTL. It wouldn't cost DVC a thing to implement and it give members that feeling of being treated like royalty mentioned at the MH. 10-20% discounts don't do much for me.

Yes, you can upgrade a brand new pass and even the unused portion of a partially used pass towards the purchase of an AP or PH. My family truely enjoys the freedom an AP gives us. We decided we would never go to WDW w/o one again :)

While, I love the AP discount and the front of the line idea too, I think the guaranteed nonsmoking/smoking is my pick of the lot for my family. I think it is more realistic than an entirely nonsmoking resort. IMO That would just entice people to smoke in rooms that are nonsmoking.

There were so many good choices though! Honestly, I would love all three of the above :) , but I could have the power for only one ::yes:: So, it is the guaranteed smoking preference.

Exactly, we would actually pay much more for an AP if it included FOTL. Forget a 10% discount, we are in DVC because of QUALITY, not because it is CHEAPER and FOTL would add etreme quality to our vacations, especially when we want to go to a park later in the day and all the FP sold out 3 hours ago. Great poll.

I voted for a discount on the annual pass.

I would enjoy having a FOTL pass but I hope Disney never offers that perk. I am glad that everyone who has a ticket to the park has the same access to all attractions. When you treat one group like royalty, another group gets treats like peasants. With the number of DVC members rapidly increasing, the FOTL access could cause standby times to skyrocket.

I think you should never wish for something that you wouldn’t mind someone else receiving instead. What would be the reaction here if Disney decided to give FOTL access only to those who booked packages that include a resort stay instead of DVC members?

I would vote for All Florida resident perks for members, including DDE and Ticket Discounts.:smooth:

Except those who stay at a Disney Resort who have extra access in the mornings (and evenings, perhaps) due to EMH. Disney already favors on-site vs. off-site, I don't see a problem with FOTL for DVC.

As for DVCers overwhelming FP lines, what's the final DVC capacity going to be? 2000? 3000? So there's a total of 7-8000 possible FOTLers, many of whom don't go to a park every day, spread out over 4 parks (plus TL & BB) - don't think this will swamp the system. Besides, Carol said "reasonable" - so let's make this 6 all-purpose FPs per person per day....

Thats a great idea, unlimited is asking a lot. UVS offers a pass that allows FOTL once per day for each ride for an additional $25 when not staying on site. Maybe we could get something in between like any 3 attractions FOTL per day per park or something similar. It would just be nice to go to MGM on an AP around 5PM and actually be able to go on TOT or RNR before Fantasmic.
