. . . what bedding arrangement would you prefer?

I'm thrilled with DVC and love it . . . won't give it up, but if in the planning stages someone would have asked me how I'd like the bedding configured in the different accomodations, I would have gladly voiced an opinion. I think it was set up for the appeal when you view the models and you get all excited about the nice master suite etc. The reality, however, is that I'd prefer 2 queen beds in the bedroom of a 1-bedroom and a sleeper sofa in the living room. So in this way, a studio would sleep 4, a 1-bedroom would sleep 6 & a two bedroom would sleep 8. I don't get the point of a studio and 1-bedroom sleeping 4 and then it jumps to 8.

I have a family of 4 and a two bedroom is overkill and there isn't much point of the 1-bedroom except for a larger kitchen which I use little more than the ones in a studio. It would be much nicer for us to be able to separate our two kids without an aerobed or putting a blanket between them so they don't wake each other up kicking particularly when they get older.

So, knowing I was lambasted for a question similar to this in the past and knowing that my kids should be and are thrilled for such nice vacations . . . I'm just curious if others would prefer a different arrangement if they could have it.

I for one love the king size bed. If it had come with 2 queens, not sure if we would have bought or not. Good luck with the post!

We really like the king size bed in the master bedroom.

I know this subject arises frequently at the OKW annual meeting each year. In the past we've been told basically that what we currently have is what was in the models we toured before we bought & is in our legal documents.

I would also love a one bedroom option with 2 queens.... Not for trips with the kids, but for adult trips!

Because of our family size. Three kids 24, 20, and 8; that frequently bring friends we always get the two bedroom and enjoy the master bedroom as our quiet sanctuary at the end of the day.

However, for families such as yours the option of more bedding in the master would be a plus. It's too bad they didn't design them with a sitting area that had a fold out couch to accomodate families of 5 or 6.

It won't ever happen because it doesn't fit in with the rest of DVC or the Timeshare Industry standards. Plus the number of people that would routinely request this type of room is very small. Besides, DVC has the perfect way to fix the 4/4/8 issue. Make the studio 2 or 3 only as many resorts do. Actually I suspect the studios only trade for 2 now through II since they've changed their exchange parameters to encompass private sleeping capacity only.

I love my king sized bed in the master bedroom. I don't want to share the bedroom with anyone but my husband and we want to sleep together. We don't sleep when we sleep together in a queensized bed or double bed. We are trying to get a two bedroom right now since we are bringing my husband's sister along with us for our trip in October. She won't mind sleeping with our son in the sleeper sofa, but the second bedroom would be more convenient for her.

We'd love the two queen option in a 1BR.

Best of both worlds...create some rooms with two queens and others with kings in the master. Make them each a room category that can be reserved (along with smoking and non-smoking).

I believe it would be popular for quite a number of families.

I love my King bed a home but I am with you. We also have a family of 4 and I would love the option of a 1BR with 2 queen beds and a sofa sleeper. When we bring family or freinds a 2BR will be great but when it is just us I anticiapate we would be much more comfortable with 2 queens.

You know I thought of this too. I did find it odd that it goes from 4 to 8. There really should be another option. Maybe bunk beds? A studio plus....type of thing. I don't know how I would design the room but I do agree it sees to go overboard. We are a family of three and plan to stay that way but when Ds gets older the couch bed isn't too appealing KWIM? But the 2 BR would be too big.

I like the bedding just the way it is. When we invite guests or family we always reserve the size villa necessary so that we NEVER use the pullout sofa.

I wonder though if a solution could be worked out where everybody gets what they want?

For example. On check-in day for an additional charge to the member occupying a villa why couldn't the king bed be removed and replaced with two queen beds. On check-out the queen beds would be removed and replaced with the king bed.

Would you pay $150.00 ($150.00 is just an example I have no idea what it would cost to do this without increasing dues for everyone) to the resort for this service? Probably not for a day or two but for a whole week or more it might be worth it for some families. Just a thought.

One of the major reasons we bought was the master bedroom/king bed arrangement. DH and I like our privacy and do not wish to share our sleeping space with anyone...

Also, DH refuses to have someone sleeping on the pull-out. We brought our 19-year old niece in February and got a 2-bedroom.

Just our opinion, YMMV

I like a king bed when we can get it . . . only have a queen at home, but again, my thought was that if could have it that everyone had comfortable sleeping arrangements, it would be great. I get the contract thing. However regarding it's comparison to other timeshares, couldn't care less. I think Disney is premium and so I like posts suggesting another bedding option maybe as another category . . . maybe more points than a studio, but not as many as a 1-bedroom. I just have a hard time using as many points as I have to for a 2-bedroom with just four of us . . . it's the difference between 1 and 2 trips etc. Oh well. Just a thought I can't seem to get off my mind whenever we go.

So far we've been to VB twice and won't give up the Inn Room because of the view and convenience to everything and when we were at the VWL, we had a two bedroom because we brought friends . . . to whom we gave the king bed since we didn't think it fair to make them share with our kids.

ITA with this statement. It is so nice to have the living / kitchen area available for those who may wish to stay up late or get up early.

This discussion comes up periodically. DVC already has options for those who need a unit to sleep more than 4.

IMHO, this is about $$ - the real issue is that some want a less expensive option for more than 4. Given how well DVC sells with the current arrangement, I see no incentive for DVC to offer a less expensive option, and lots of dis-incentives. Again, JMHO. YMMV.

it isn't really about $$$ although it could be argued as such. It's just that there's a VAST difference between a 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom in terms of bedding. For me, it's about an extra bed and $$$ enter in only when I need to chew up so many extra points to have a huge unit I don't need in order to gain an extra bed. I'm one person who seems to be in the minority and that's fine, but it just seems logical to me that things go on a progressive scale like 4/6/8 rather than 4/4/8.

Unfortunately I know I'll never win this argument, but it's nice to know there are others out there who share my wish . . . not to be cheap, but to be comfortable in what seems to me a reasonable way.

The whole issue is really interesting too, not just for it's content, but to see how everyone's mind works. It's fun to see how we all perceive things differently. Guess that's what makes the world go around.

most of other timeshares have a king bed in the master - there are few that only have queen - (these are generally the 6's)

they also have 2 twins - not queen in the other room - so putting 6 people in here is pushing it.....

the sofa bed is a queen.

II wants more DVC trades - they mostly get studios - until that changes - no way are they going to make it 2 - they want more not less - and less is what they would get if they made it 2. more people would start to trade the 1-bedroom and less trades would be make,

Okay, you lost me, but that's because I'm really not all that familiar with the trading lingo. We bought for Disney and to-date, don't care about the trading out. However, I get it to the extent that it's about economy . . . not mine, but Disney's and those who want to do trading, right?

Oh well. Like I said when I posted the first question, "if you had a choice," and I meant it in terms of disregarding economy, trading and the like. It was a "pipe dream," I guess.

Anyway, we love our DVC, wish we'd joined earlier and for now make do with a studior or 1-bedroom and as they get older, who knows. Maybe we'll get more points and just do the two bedroom.
