Hey! We did the marriage license by mail through Brevard thing that others have posted on here. I'm getting into a last minute panic that we were supposed to do something else.

We sent the application, got back the form to fill out and notarize, got it notarized, sent it back with our payment and then got back the paperwork.

Is that all we were supposed to do? Do we just give that paperwork to our officiant? I guess I was picturing like a certificate. When people say license, you don't think of just a couple papers stapled together, you know? So now I'm worried! Not that there's much we can do now when we leave in 4 days ;)

Karen- that is everything you need to do. Your officiant will fill out everything that it needs and send it in for you. Then, you will get the paperwork back in a couple weeks that you are married and you can start the process of changing everything that needs changed.

I know you are getting stressed right now, thinking that there is more to be done. I know I was. I was so worried that I would leave something, forget something, or realize that I didn't do something that was important. :confused3

Your wedding is so close now, just breathe and take it all in:hug: . It is going to be wonderful!!! :wizard:

We also did the WL by mail from Brevard Co. so let me know if you have any more questions...:flower3:

Thanks, Angela!! And thanks for reminding me to breathe! I think I forgot to do that :) I'm so glad to hear that we're A.O.K. and set to go. Thank you  You're right, that's the point I'm at. I'm just worried about forgetting something, forgetting to do something important, etc... Nothing else is worrying me! Once everyone gets there and I know we have everything I'll be fine :goodvibes

The only other thing we were wondering is there is a note on the bottom of the page stating that you can pay $2 each to get more original copies sent to you. Did you ever find a time where you had to send one original somewhere and wished you had an extra copy for something else you needed to do? I don't think I'm going to change my name, so this may not even be an issue, but we just wondered :)

Hey Joanie!! Don't apologize. I'm glad you're asking questions too because I didn't even think about the ones you asked and now I want to know the answers too :)

I can't believe I get married in 1 week either!!!! Thanks for looking forward to my trip report! I'll try to do something interesting or exciting so I can write about it :rotfl: Thank you for the compliment, I know you will be too!!!! You're getting close too :goodvibes

Karen - we did have 3 extra copies sent. I was just worried about losing one in a fire, flood, some other major Earth shattering disaster...:confused3

I have one in the safe here at home, and the others in the safety deposit box at the bank. I didn't know if I would have to leave one with Social Security or the DMV (which BTW I didn't have to) so I wanted to have some extras.

You are going to have a wonderful wedding, and everything is going to be perfect! :cloud9:

Joanie - they will mail it back to you as soon as they get it processed. It may take a few weeks though... :rolleyes1

I did get delivery confirmation when I had the paperwork notarized and mailed it back to them. But that was just so I could make sure it didn't get lost and they actually received it.

Hope this helps!:)

Thanks so much!!! I felt the same way. I am always an overly cautious person, though, so I thought maybe it was just me :)

I can't believe I have less than a week! I am feeling like :cloud9: today instead of stressed, so that's a good thing!!

I've heard it's a good idea to get extra copies if you won't be taking your husband's last name, just in case you ever need to prove you're married (like in an emergency, I guess...). You could both keep one in your wallet.

Thank you!!!!!!! Didn't even think about that!

I know I needed a certified copy to change name on professional license, some credit cards and who knows what else. It's always a good idea to get a couple copies extra.
