....where does one go to procure this DLR healthfood???

Dagnabbit!!!

I understand that they're closing up the beloved Corn Dog Castle next week. Any word on a stand being moved elsewhere in DCA?

hound <----gets a corny dog fix twice a day at DLR. :cool2:

(& i don't want to schlep back to the lil red wagon on Main St. if i feel like a corny dog after riding Heimlich's candy corn train. ;))

:)

a & W root beer used to have them as well as Der Weiner Schnitzel which I think has mini gorn dogs as well. I do not know if they still exist as I do not eat there any more due to multiple allergies.

They are infamous for their hot dog on a stick aka corn dogs.

I don't think we can in DCA until the do something about the Castle. I'm bummed.

I can't believe they might be willing to wait TWO YEARS to re-open. Truly hope there will be a temporary location though I am guessing we'll miss it by being there just after CDC closes. It's almost letter-writing worthy (and, coming from me, that is saying a lot!)

The official closure date for Corn Dog Castle is June 1st, according to the disneyland web site. Sorry, I haven't heard of them relocating it anywhere in DCA. How about the cart in DL on Main St. though?

WHY is it closing & anyone know if they were hand battered like Hotdog On A Stick or were they frozen?

I can live w/o one & just do the HDOAS here at home....but I AM curious....

Our first day there will be their last day open! I am so sad but happy I will get one last corny dog fix. I hope they have corn dogs elsewhere but knowing how things are going lately they probably wont :(

DCA is getting a total makeover. Part of that is unification of the areas so they are themed alike and part is to get rid of the dead wood like the Dinosaur Jack.
The Corn Dog Castle will be closed until the Little Mermaid Ride opens.

You will drive through Condor Flats west until you drive up the road to the Redwoods you will see the Lodge on your right called the Grand Californian Hotel.

That is similar to the hotel in Yosimite named Ahwahnee Hotel.
http://www.yosemitepark.com/Accommodations_TheAhwahnee.aspx

On your left is a trading post and a white water rafting adventure. Continuing up the road you will see the Redwoods on your right and some adventures there. As we head on up the road we go down into San Francisco. On your right is Ariel's new ride which ties into the seaside boardwalk type of theming. To the left is the Cannery Row type of area and a winery. Straight ahead is a turn of the century themed boardwalk with modern touches.

The Corn Dog Castle does not fit in any more but will be themed to be like a turn of the century food stand. They need that restaurant because when they are done they will have the winery, wharf and Pizza Oom Mow Mow area restaurant. They need a snack spot for guests in that area.

Pizza Oom Mow Mow has had nothing but bad reviews that I have seen. They should go bye-bye and put Corn Dog Castle in, instead!

Hound, I feel your pain! :sad1:

Hound, it may be time to broaden your DCA dining repertoire. You know there is plenty of other "healthfood" to consume in the DCA area. Here are some examples:

Lobster Nachos or BBQ Chicken Pizza at the Cove Bar.

Bleu cheese burger with criss-cut fries or onion rings at Taste Pilot's Grill.

or if you need to have that special type of food that you can eat as you walk with purpose to the next attraction, then grab a BBQ hot link at Award Weiners. Yeah, yeah, I know it's not the same as a corny dog, but trying new things is what makes return trips to DLR so much fun! :goodvibes

All Hound 109 has to do is buy a bunch of corn dogs in Texas and fill up the suitcase full of mustard and corn dogs. Fix is solved, lol. TSA may not approve of you bringing onto a plane a large suitcase full of corn dogs though. :lmao:

Sounds like an episode from I love Lucy.:thumbsup2

Hey! I know where that is!

Now if you could find the Aussie Bakery in San Antonio I would be very happy for a care package from there, lol. I have not been in Austin in decades but do love Google.

So do you think he should freeze the corndogs for his trip or maybe just drive up and order 50 to go and shove them in a large plastic shopping bag.

Is that place good? Maybe Hound to go there for his fix.:thumbsup2

Aren't these the F&W offerings DM?

I like the sound of the bleu cheese burgers.....but everyone knows that BBQ is slow cooked & smoked for 8-16 hours....isn't that a little long to cook a pizza? :lmao:

& lobster on nachos??? I'll pass (didn't they have a lobster roll offering?? any reviews on it??).

BBQ Hot Link?? (again is it "bbq" because it's smoked for 8 - 16 hours....or because again someone has the term BBQ confused with something else).....or is it infused with lots of spices & chilies?? :)

hound <----always looking forward to new variations.....but knows what BBQ is....& isn't. :cool2:

Thanks for the sleuthing mechurchlady. :thumbsup2

I'm thinking that this may be mall food....I believe that's near a mall. & I'm a little nervous that they call themselves "famous corndogs"....instead of "famous cornydogs" since every Texan knows that the cornydog was invented & named by Mr. Fletcher at the Texas State Fair....& that only non-texans would call this blessed food group item a corndog. ;)

After googling, I'm thinking i'll need to try this place out:

Still nervous over them calling it a corndog & the vegan chili (what the h*ll??), but a jalapeno cornydog sounds like something right up hound's ally. :thumbsup2

I just got back from DCA..and..got my last fix at the Castle..I am not into corn dogs..but..just love the chedder cheese ones..While I was in line..many people came by just to take pictures of the castle..everyone around me was talking about how bummed they were that it was closing...

Yep mall food, sorry! But, if you go downtown Austin you can get corndog shrimp at Moonshine. So yummy!

I love the cheddar cheese ones too - I am a pescetarian at the moment - and everyone else likes the hot links. That's why the plain ones in DL just won't suffice! :upsidedow
