That's why I keep going, even though I'm so sick of BOTH parties I could scream. Lots of my friends are saying that they are voting with their feet this year and aren't going at all. I told them that's their choice-BUT everytime they start whining about how things are going, I'm going to push their non-vote back in their face.

Interesting theory, but what about the person who is strongly opposed to both candidates and can't find any common ground or redeeming qualities in either one? Why would one want to "help" someone get elected that they have no faith in?

What I've done in the past is Write-In someone who I thought I would like to see in the office...whether it was someone who lost in a primary or someone that didn't run that I would have supported...maybe not a system for everyone but it works for me.

My brother is a big one for complaining loudly about elected officials but doesn't vote. He also doesn't choose to educate himself politically and instead just repeats what they talk about at the police station.

Although he's a bit conservative so it's not like we encourage him too much to actually go out and vote

Agreed. I have no problem with the idea in general but I can't support voting for somebody you don't like.

If they ever put in "none of the above" then I could fully support the idea of vote or don't itch.

Same here. It gives a chance to register that I thought/think all choices stink.

(I will not vote today for governor here in OH, because I can't stand either of them.)

I'm lucky in a way, I can't stand either the D or R running for IL governor, but we have a green party canidate in the race as well, so I'll be voting for him as a protest to both these nitwits. Without a third choice I'm not sure what I would have done. Maybe just left that spot blank and continued to vote on the rest of the ballot. Or fliped a coin, or closed my eyes and just pointed!

By the way, I'd like to also toss in my general kvetch about the lack of choices offered, but I still gotta go and vote, even if only for the things I have educated myself about.

I also think a good change would be to find a way for people to have to know the name of the person they are voting for before they hit the booth. Too many people not even caring enough to learn the names, just looking for the "R" or "D" and voting accordingly. That sickens me more than people not voting at all.
