If you don't have enough points for your res?

I have 260 developer points I would like to use at SSR. Problem is, the number of points needed for the res I would like is 274. Can I pay cash for those remaining points? How does that work?

You can pay cash for a room to add a night to a points reservation, and MS will link the points and cash reservations together (so you do not have to change rooms) but each night of a vacation must be reserved with all cash or all points. (I think DVC would rather you buy more points than give you an easy option to add a few points one year)

No, you can't pay cash for additional points for a reservation. Your options would be:

• Borrow from next year's points
• Rent/transfer points from another owner
• Get a cash reservation for 1 night of your trip

If you choose option 3, you can't pay for a night with part cash, part points. It's either all points or all cash.

Probably easiest would be borrow from you upcoming regular points allotment to complete the reservation if you can.

Or get a member to transfer the points you need to your member account.

If you opt to pay one night cash you may be lucky and find member discount is availabe for night you need to book which would be 25% off. This discount, if available, applies only to DVC resorts only and only for DVC units, not rooms that are part of the regular hotel inventory ( like BW Inn room ).

Since developer points do not show up in your account, I'm not sure you could combine a transfer, so then would be in the "same boat" Each reservation day would have to be all developer points or all transfer points, not combined. (And could a transfer even be accepted before Kidani opens?)

I'm a DVC newbie, so please forgive my ignorance. Why can't the OP borrow from their Kidani points before May?

I'm in the same boat, I think. We plan on using our developer points next August and would be short on points for our stay. I had planned on using my points from Dec. 08 to make up for the shortage for our Aug. 09 trip. Is that not possible? TIA.

Disneyland Mama - You will be okay to borrow from your December 2008 UY Kidani points and use them towards an SSR stay in August, because it is after May 1. New Kidani owners cannot use their AKV points prior to May 1, because this is when Kidani officially opens. So technically, we don't own anything prior to May 1 - hence, we cannot stay anywhere on those points prior to that. We could make a reservation, but it has to be for after May 1.

My AKV points won't help me if I'm trying to stay at SSR on developer points in April (for Easter break.)

I just presumed, and probably incorrectly, that the op purchased recently and the developer points will still be valid & would be used after Kidani opened but true that their plans may be prior to May 2009.

Ah so you are talking about a trip prior to May 2009.

I apologize Wrighter for my first post because stating you could borrow from your upcoming points allotment is incorrect in this situation.

Your best bet is to get a cash reservation for a single night from DVC or to have a few points transferred in. Any cash reservation from CRO would run the risk of the having to move units.
