If you couldn't get the Hojo Ent rate, where would you stay?

The date we're going (night of 6/7) doesn't have the entertainment rate offered. The 15% disboards discount would pretty much cover the price of the entertainment book, so that doesn't seem like the best way to spend money since I doubt we'd get much use out of the book (not much of a coupon person).

If you were a twenty-something couple going for an overnight, where would you stay? Our biggest concerns are price, location (walking distance), free parking and access to an easy/cheap breakfast (free continental would be nice, but if the cost of the room offset buying a cheap breakfast closeby that'd be fine too).

Thanks!

Well you wouldn't need the entertainment book if you were just getting the disboards rate. :)

If you have an AP you can get 20% off rack rate.

As for other hotels....we liked Anabella, though it's a longer walk... IF the parking lot on Katella is open, you can walk to the right out of your hotel, get to that lot, and grab a tram from there. If it's not, or if you don't want to see if it is, you walk across Katella and up the street PPH is on. Go in the GCH, out into DTD, and to DL/DCA that way.

They have a 3rd night free promo going on, but if you're only there for ONE night you might not get a great deal.

If you are willing to take a shuttle instead of walk, we got the Hilton for an overnight in December, through hotwire, for $59 base rate. Check out betterbidding.com thoroughly to really have an idea of what hotel you might get by going for certain descriptions of hotels. For instance, if you "bid" (you don't really bid on hotwire, but betterbidding covers hotwire and priceline and you do bid on priceline) on a 3.5 star disneyland area with a certain set of descriptive words including "golf nearby", you'll probably end up at the Hyatt or the Hilton. And so on.

I once stayed at Carousel, and while many enjoy it I did not. Their breakfast was sad IMO, though they offer hot stuff from Quiznos (on their property) for something like 2 bucks.

Anaheim Plaza is probably the next cheapest. Walking distance, but no cont. breakfast.

I really enjoyed the Candy Cane Inn though it is not all that cheap.

If we can't get into our timeshare this is how we break it down.

HoJo
CCI
Tropicana

If money wasn't an object that would be totally different, it was would be

GCH
DLH
PPH
HoJo
CCI
Tropicana

If you care more about breakfast and ambiance - Candy Cane Inn
If you care more about money - Anaheim Plaza and bring a continental breakfast with you.
If you are slpurging...Grand Ca

That is how we decide when we go.

If you're ok driving or even taking a shuttle, the Aryes Inn is a great place to stay. The breakfast is more of a buffet (they even make omelets), the rooms are gorgeous. It is right on the other side of the I5, though, which may be too far for you. If you have a car, its no big deal. We stayed there to go to an Eagles concert because its right across the street from the Pond. We love this hotel.

haha, duh, now I feel dumb. So that does keep Hojo in the running price-wise then.

Yeah, I think we really want to stay walking-distance. We'll be arriving on Sunday, walking in to buy our one-day non park-hoppers, have dinner at Napa Rose and check out DTD, and then walking in again the next morning for rope drop. Since my BF isn't an early-riser or quite the type-A that I am on vacation, I want to make that process as smooth as possible!

Excuse?????

Day 1 - NAPA ROSE is in the DCA a Pass is needed.
Day 2 at DL a Pass is needed

2 day hopper would be needed

Nope, Napa Rose is in the Grand Californian Resort. You can see DCA from the restaurant, but it's not in the park, just the hotel.

We are staying at Hojo this year, but last year we stayed at Camelot.

We would stay there again in a heartbeat! They had a small complimentary breakfast, and are close to DL.

In fact, this year was between Hojo and Camleot. We picked Hojo to see if it lives up to what everyone says about it, plus for the water park!
:)

I don't have a definite answer.

We just stayed at HoJo's this December for the first time and really liked it. Was it the BEST ever? Not really, but it was clean, within reasonable walking distance, nice pool play area, and really reasonably priced. But, we would go back in a heartbeat if it met my criteria.

Last August we stayed at the Fairfield Inn and really liked it. It is closer (just a bit) and we got a good rate ($82 a night). There beds are so comfortable! We would go back there too.

I would shop around to find a motel/hotel with this criteria:

1. Walking distance. Shuttles are a pain in the neck, IMHO.
2. Reasonable price.
3. Decent reviews on these boards and Trip Advisor, etc. (Clean, comfy beds).

That probably doesn't help too much.

There are lots of hotels in the area and for the most part each on has someone who has enjoyed staying there.

Good luck it is hard choice.

We love the Candy Cane; stay there every year. In fact, just booked for June 8-11! Cost is $123 a night. You can walk to DL or take the free shuttle and small continental breakfast in included.

I definitely wouldn't go back to Park Vue. The breakfast and distance were nice, but the beds and the rooms really left a lot to be desired in my opinion. I would totally do HOJO or a DLR, I'm a little bit timid to try different hotels, especially when they are pricey, then if it sucks, you really feel like you got ripped off.

We are staying at the HoJo from 6/7-6/11 with the ent rate of $69 a night. They have been continually changing the dates during that time so don't despair, you might still get that rate.

Nope, Napa Rose in in GCH, Wine Country Trattoria is the one that's in DCA. :)

They do always change the rates, last year they had NO rates up for July but the weekend before we wanted to go (for DD12's bday) they added our rates so off we went. They also just updated our nights for Feb so I'm booking them now! :)
