We were all set to stay at the Shades of Green this September, then changed our minds & thought about POP Century, now we're considering a Moderate.

We planned on staying at the Caribbean Beach Dec 2002 when it closed for refurb. & we ended up at the Polynesian instead. :D So, we still have a desire to stay here.

I really love the look of Coronado Springs, but am not sure we'll like the overall resort as well.

I also recently started reading more about POR & love the idea of the boat to DTD.

Can anyone shed some light on these resorts for us? Which one is your favorite & what makes it your favorite? Is there one you don't like & why not?

Any info would be greatly appreciated - they all look so great, I really can't decide! :)

I've only stayed at POR (formerly Dixie Landings) so I guess my vote isn't really fair!;) But, CBR and CSR both seem so spread out, after walking in the parks all day, the last thing I want is a hike to my room, or to get a drink!!:teeth: We really enjoyed our stay at POR, the landscaping was lovely and the kids enjoyed the pool.:sunny:

What about PO - French Quarter? It's our favorite moderate. :teeth:

We just got back from POR. We stayed at Coranado Springs between the two, I'd choose POR. It's shady, well themed, & very family friendly.

Thanks for all your input - please keep them coming! :)

K&A&C's Mom - what did your kids like about the pool at POR? From the pictures I've seen CBR & CSR's pools seem more interesting - are there some better pics of POR's pool around that you know of?

I forgot to mention before - it's just me & hubby & we are really looking for a resort with great transportation that will be good for a daily afternoon swim break, a great pool, and not too far of a walk to get our refillable mugs refilled (usually several times per day.)

We've stayed at the ASMovies, Polynesian, WL & Contemporary & we loved all of them for different reasons.

Thanks again!! :)

I chose POR because you didn't have my favorite POFQ.

Hi,
We have stayed at all of the mods. Port Orleans (Dixie Landings) is our favorite moderate. We enjoy the landscaping there. We like the added perk of the boats to Downtown Disney.
We enjoyed all of the moderates. Whichever one you pick will be great.

arizonacolbys - Hey! Sorry, I hadn't caught this thread again, so I didn't see your question. It's been 8 years, but I think what the kids liked was that the pool was on it's own little island, like an old swimmin' hole. You're right, the pics of CBR and CSR give their pools the edge!;) At that time, CSR hadn't been built yet, and CBR didn't have rooms that would hold 5, so we couldn't stay there, so we really didn't look it over too much.

If it's just you and your spouse, I think POR would be a great choice, there's the boat to DTD, you're fairly close to Epcot and MGM, there are beautiful pathways and the carriage rides. As someone pointed out, POFQ might be an even better choice for you - that New Orleans theme would be very romantic, and all the bldgs. are close!::yes::

Good luck with your planning! That's part of the fun, IMO!:sunny:

:D

I chose the Port Orleans Riverside simply because I have not stayed there yet and I've been to the other moderates. I like the theming at POR and i hope to stay there in the future. Just staying at any WDW resort right now would make me happy, though.

I pick POR...or POFQ...stayed at POR in 9/15/01....it is a friendly, quiet and shady resort. I thought is was quite romantic...lots of pools, the boat to DTD and gorgeous landscaping. Seems like it is a bit of "quiet time" after touring the parks all day.

My hubby and I have stayed at all of the moderates and POR is definitely our favorite!! The theming and landscaping is beautiful and classy. If you're not traveling with kids, the "quiet pools" are just what you'll want. They're convenient, large, and generally not filled with screaming kids. The boat ride to DTD is a great perk as well.

Have fun!!

Riverside for me! Although I have never stayed at Carribean Beach, I was totally disappointed with Coronado(unheated pools, hated the food court with that extra tax!). My husband and I found Riverside relaxing, romantic, and a nice place to stay. The food court had lots of options, and the room was bigger than we expected. I am sure that no matter where you stay, you will have a great time.

I strongly believe that CSR is the BEST moderate resort at DW. :)

Check out Buzz2001's web site, it has everything you need to know in it.

We love the Boardwalk Inn and have been able to get some really good rates to stay there.
Yet, I miss CSR and hope to stay there when we go in November for the Food and Wine Festival.

We like to stay in the Casitas, in a building close to El Centro, on the first floor, corner room with a water view. The view doesn't really matter but the location of the water view rooms seems more convenient for us.

CSR is a gorgeous resort!
The walk anywhere on the property is a pleasurable experience.
The rooms have central air conditioning which we like better than the wall units in the other moderate resorts.
CSR has a beauty shop and a work out room, which the other moderates do not have.
CSR has room service, another thing the other moderates do not offer.
It's nice to get a drink from the bar and sit out by the lake at night.
The buses are not shared with any other resorts.
CSR is close to The Boardwalk, which is where we spend much of our time.
The gift shop is really nice too!

We have stayed at almost all of the DW resorts.
Our absolute favorite is the Boardwalk, but CSR is right up there too!
Good luck with your decision and have fun planning!

CBR!!!
This will be our first time staying there but it looks so beautiful! We are requesting the Jamaica building. The pools look great and they have hammocks to relax in after a long day at the parks. It looks so tropical. We can't wait. Hane fun!!

I liked the French Quater much better than Riverside. I visisted CBR because I will be spending some time there in August, it looked really cute, But I like beachy resorts anyway, the Poly is my all time fave!!
