If you could live anywhere........

Seattle or a small town in Colorado, maybe Boulder.

This is an interesting question, we are going through the same thing. We are strongly considering moving, we just need a financial business area nearby. We live in NJ and it just seems time to be getting out of here.

I would love to live in Disneyworld. ;)

But right now we are very drawn to Charlotte, North Carolina area.

Virginia or North Carolina. Prefer southern Virginia, coastal North Carolina.

I would split my time between Las Vegas and the Gold Coast of Australia where I would spend my days scuba diving on the barrier reef.

We plan on being back in the Dallas/Fort Worth area in about 7 years. Until then we will have to settle for our almost yearly trip to visit our old friends. We love the people there, so nice and friendly. Lots less taxes than in NY and not so rushed, weather pretty good most of the time. Only things we dont like so much are the fire ants, sometime tornadoes and rare ice storms. A small trade off for the life here we really dont like here in NY.

Great thread....I have been thinking about this because I am ready to get out of the Metro Atlanta area...

Problem is...I don't know where I want to go....I think somewhere on the New England coast...but I don't know if I could tolerate the winters...but would like to try.

Block Island...Rhode Island...looks very nice...so does New Hampshire and Vermont...also Maine...

I want to live someplace where I don't hear police sirens and police helicopters every night.

Wow! I thought I was the only restless soul trying to figure out where to go. Must be something in the water lol. Seriously though, how do people figure out where to move to when you don't need to take work into consideration? It should make it easier right?

Love this thread. My DD8 and I have been talking (not that her opinion is anything other than her opinion, lol) about where we might like to move. I think that the ideal time for us is September 06 -- she'll be entering a new school (middle school) and my DS, 16, will be entering college with any luck. I really want to go to a warmer climate. We'll miss my family but I really feel like we only live life once "this is not a dress rehearsal...." and we should do this. Her school is great, being near family is great, but we are isolated and after last years' weather.....

Anyone have ideas about the outskirst of Las Vegas, Arizona, or... and this is out there I know, but what I really would like, one of the Caribbean Islands, probably US Virgin Islands to keep things a bit simpler right now??

I keep "threatening" to move to St. John. I "threatened" once to move to Europe (before kids) and then did it, so nothing is off limits if it's moderately safe and I can get a job and adequate living arrangements.

great thread! we would like to relocate out of california, but our situation is a bit different, we are not driven by an absolute need for employment opportunities nearby. what we are in search of is a small town atmosphere with little or no potential for growth! someplace we could purchase a home with surrounding property, has good elementary and secondary schools and idealy in decent distance to a college or university. any suggestions (no heavy duty heat/humidty or major snow please :) ).

we live in a place many would consider ideal-an hour away from san francisco bay area, a little over 2 to the sierras or in the other direction the pacific coast. but our little "mayberry" town has exploded in size over the past few years.

San Diego. Santa Barbara and Maui. I would pick for the weather.

This is funny - because I'd say back to Atlanta :)

We lived there for 4 years and really miss it. We moved back to Canada and winter isn't even here yet and I'm hating the cold!! (and I'm Canadian)

Meezers - I would say move north out of Atlanta away from the sirens.....We lived near Lake Lanier we really liked it there.

San Antonio, with vacation homes in NW Arkansas, Little Rock, Orlando, somewhere out west, and Grand Cayman. And then I'll be needing a private plane and some cash to get back and forth.

I am NE of Atlanta....Gwinnett County...Duluth to be exact...30 years ago when parents moved here there wasn't a stop light or paved road!

You would not believe what the cost of housing has done! I need to stay in the area until Mom decides to move....but right now to get "away" it needs to be Jackson county! No one can afford to live in Forsyth...and I remember when that was no man's land!

Just saw the Prince Charles interview.....guess I want to go live in his "back to the basics" community that looks like it belongs in the 1800's!

:teeth: Loving it right where I am!!!

I used to say Orlando so I could work at WDW ;), but now with all the hurricanes, I say no thanks (I'd be to nervous).

I would love to live in the Mountains - maybe Durango, Colorado.

I'd say Florida anywhere :sunny:
FAR FAR away from the cold, born and raised in Canada I'm still not use to the cold it's not even "winter" yet and I'm already pouting

That's too funny :rotfl: We lived in Sugar Hill, but was in Duluth all the time because DD Ice Skated at the Forum. I really liked it in that area and we do miss it! We moved right after the Runaway Bride..... :teeth:
I guess as always, the grass is always greener on the other side ;)
