If you could have one wish..

I'd love to be able to fly. That'd be my first wish.
I'd also like the ability to speak and understand all languages.

Another one for money here. I'd pay to finish college through grad school, pay off my parent's bills, send my nephew to good elementary and high schools and college, continue the fight against global poverty, fund research for AIDS and Cancer, fund research to find a cure for my cousin's disease (she's got a genetic disorder the Mayo Clinic has never seen before), and fund my own version of Make-A-Wish.

I'm greedy. I'd wish for something that would benefit me and only me. It's MY wish, after all.

When the Mayo Clinic doesn't know what you have, you've officially become a lab rat. The specific type of bone cancer I had had never been seen before, because the cancer cells weren't "normal" shaped cancer sells. And on top of being a bone tumor, there was a ton of cartilage in there too. They asked to keep my slides because it'd never been seen before. Here's to the Lab Rats! :rotfl:

In all seriousness, I hope whatever your cousin has in treatable.

The only thing is, she's not even two yet. She's underdeveloped and they think that this genetic defect is why (she's got an extra set of genes [or whatever the scientific name for them is]). She's got the mentality of a newborn pretty much. She had a double hernia when she was 6mos and now she rumenates (an eating disorder. She throws up whatever she eats pretty much. Like bulimia for babies except it has nothing to do with self-image).

:sad2: Poor baby. Even if she gets TPN or has a feeding tube inserted? That is weird.

Your cousin gives me hope. I saw babies like her in the hospital (one was my nurses' son. Can you imagine working in a pediatric ward and treating your son for cancer at the same time. :sad2: ) and it only makes me want to work extra hard to make them better.

Do you guys know anything, like, as far as if it's terminal, or if she would live to a certain age? You said it's genetic, so if she has kids would she be able to pass it on?

Please feel free to PM me whenEVER. Lord knows you've been there for me plenty of times.

There's no way she'll keep the food down. They tried a feeding tube (both through her belly button and her throat) and she kept throwing it back up.

We don't really know anything. Now that she's a research case pretty much all of her healthcare is nearly completely covered, which is a really good thing because my aunt had to quit her job to stay home and take care of her. Miranda (the sick one)'s older sister is fine. She had ADD when she was younger, but that's common in my family. My aunt was adopted at birth and never met her biological parents, so nobody knows if there's something on her side of the family. Whatever it is is probably either recessive or a freak once-in-a-trillion kind of thing.

It's pretty much the reverse of Downs. Whereas they are missing a chromosome (that's the word I was looking for earlier), she's got an extra. They don't know if it will affect her lifespan or what, though.

I get into top choice colleges at this point. The rest of my life can be a surprise for all I care.

I would ask for money, but just enough for parents to pay off the house, cars, DVC, etc., to get me a decent car next year, and to get me and my brother into a good college.

Global peace. I'm tired of hearing how many troops we are going to send to Iraq and bring the same amount back. It is insane that we have to watch people die because of a stupid argument. I hate war and the world would be better off without it!!! I'm not trying to sound like a :hippie:

just to be happy.
the ability to live my life to fullest no matter what happens.
