If you could design a DVC resort....

Haunted Mansion or, better yet, Tower of Terror themed resort.

Something along those lines....maybe near MGM, to play off it's obvious "link" to movie special effects (of which there would need to be PLENTY!).

Wow, some great ideas! I like the south seas. I come from a cold climate and it would be great to combine disney with that feel.

My favorite  the prince & princess idea, all the cm's dressed to the part. It would be a classic and only makes sense for disney to have it :) My kids would love it and I would too :)

Last month I was in Las Vegas and when I toured the hotels I was thinking how great some of the ideas would be for DVC resorts.

Paris themed, french-europeon feel, Paris -most romantic city in the world, 'Parisian' decor and a replica Eiffel Tower

Venetian, complete with canals, gondolas, and strolling performers

NYNY, replicates New York's skyline, landmarks, sights, sounds, and tastes. In addition to mock skyscrapers, the hotel's exterior features replicas of the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge.

I really like several! Especially the fairy tale idea (and asian theme.)

I'm really into renaissance stuff, so it would be cool to have the jousts and renaissance costumes, but in the fantasy realm. (Real castles of the period would have been cold, dank, and uncomfortable.) Perhaps a nice castle in the middle - which would be the check-in area and the place for the restaurants, and other activities. Meanwhile, there would be a moat going around the center castle which would be the pool. (With various bridges going across to get you to the castle.) The castle would be surrounded by various estates, and each guest would either be a count, duchess, baron, etc. Definitely a four poster/ canopy bed in each room, with lots of tapestries (perhaps inspired by the unicorn tapestries?) decorating the main hall and rooms. I like the idea of a dragon's lair, and a royal ball - very cool.

The asian theme is really cool too - maybe with a building that looks like the Taj Mahal as the centerpiece or a building that looks like a budhist temple in the mountains. And I agree with the idea of using asian animals in some way.

Of course, you can't go wrong with pirates, too... a cool pirate ship with maybe a hidden buried treasure - and a really cool slide - kind of like in the Goonies movie, where they slid down those tunnels into the water next to the pirate ship.

I guess the only idea I really don't like so far is the 50's theme (different strokes for different folks!) Maybe I'm just too young (born in the 70's) , but I have a horrible aversion to ranch houses and factories just make me think of global warming and therefore are very depressing to me.

All I want is another MK/Bay Lake (DVC) resort. Prefer something dark and cozy like the WL...but not like AKL (not a fan of AKL even though it's very similar to the WL). Love the pirate and haunted mansion themes. Not sure those would fly with little kiddies but if anyone can make it work, it's Disney.

French Riveria

or

Hundred Acre Woods

Oh! I love the idea of a Hundred Acre Woods resort! The lobby could be made to look like a hollow tree, and the sidewalks could have foot prints from Tigger, etc. The pool could be covered by a giant, open tent made to look like Eeyore's house...and the restaurant could be called the Rumbly Spot and have a special dessert--with honey!

Anything Pirate, definitely but I really like the Swiss Chalet idea!
