If You Could Design a Disney Resort....

We could even paint state lines where ever they are appropriate. Have cast members in various state trooper garb giving out "Tickets" for free ice cream cones etc.

How about some REAL Texas Bar-B-Q and maybe a Salt Grass steak house in the Texas section.

With a Diner like "Mel's" from Alice that's inside a box car. Pink and turquoise. "Well, Kiss My Grits!" And, a Cadillac Ranch.

How about a fake cruise ship in the middle of a fake lake?

I'd love a Moroccan / Aladdin themed resort.

Or how about an Army barracks style ultra-budget hostel?

I have actually had an idea for awhile that I shared with a friend. 100 Acre Woods!
Hunny Pot Snak bar, Roo's Playground, Kanga's Kitchen,
Main lobby like the inside of a tree, or maybe Christopher Robin's bedroom!!!
So many places to go with this....:)

AllStar Games Resort

Monopoly, Life, Checkers, Chess, etc with huge full versions of the games in the courtyards.

Tammydel, I love your idea! My toddler would go nuts! Maybe there could be a Rabbit's foodcourt(being that he is the only one in the cartoons to ever have any food) and a tigger trail.

Manhatten Resort

with grand central station as the main building, central park in the middle, hotels and restaurants all around central park, check in through ellis island etc

I really like the Jules Verne-esque idea. I'd been thinking of something similar for some time. Good potential tie-ins from Treasure Planet and Atlantis as well.

Did you know that here in Las Vegas someone has been trying to raise funding for a 'moon' resort. Where a giant sphere made to look like a cratered moon would be the center piece. '

I think something somewhat modern science could work too. As long as it's not couched in 'the technology of tomorrow', then the pressure to update the look and feel every few years wouldn't be so bad (the very problem Disneyland's Tomorrowland has right now). It would have some innovative thinking in design, ammenities, and the rooms would be full of great latest technologies (like an on-demand entertainment system)...

General ideas:

Colonial Resort - Colonial mansions, some Disney's America ideas snuck in. A moderate level resort

Martha Stewart - Imagine being pampered in the style of high society, at the same time have plenty of arts and craft things to do (scrapbook your days events at night, cooking classes, etc).

Lilliputian Land - One of the forgotten lands of early Disneyland. A cross between early european castle and the Gulliver travel tales. Maybe throw in some other fairy tales for good measure.

Garden Suites - Have a series of hotels surrounded by different lush themed gardens (flora and fauna)

I think a Taj Mahal typed themed resort would be super - bright white stone, tall spires, open courtyards, treatment suitable for royalty and CM's dressed in full Indian period dress

thanks

We may have to break this thread in to two... Best Moderate, and Best Deluxe. :D

Taj Mahal would be way cool, but I could never afford it. I was shooting for the Moderate level with the Route 66 Memorial Resort.

I've thought about this for a while. I would love to see a moderate resort themed after World Showcase. Each country would get a section of the hotel similar to the islands of CBR. The section of the hotel would reflect the architecture of the country. Also each room would be decorated according to it's country. The CM's in the individual sections would wear traditional garb. The food court area would have a food court for each country. They don't necessarily need to be the same countries as World Showcase, but I think this would be really fun.

If they did this...no one would visit Epcot's WS.

Incorporate the resort as an arc behind the world showcase and continue each country in to it's respective resort area...

Probably not practical given all the stuff showing on the arial photos on disneypix, but a fun idea.

I think an actual Haunted Mansion Resort would be very
interesting. The possibilities are endless. Coffin shaped doorways
and pools......I could go on and on...........

Hi - some great ideas on this thread!

I don't have a theme in mind - but I do know what I would love to see one day and that is a resort with a huge pool that is indoors - a huge glass atrium around it so you can swim when it is pouring, or cold... and maybe the ceiling partial retracts for when it is nice weather.

There can be hotel room balconies overlooking the pool and gardens yet be inside!

That's where we could do the space station theme with a large atrium in the middle with pool, gardens etc. The hotel part of the resort would be a tall cylinder with rooms and balconies on the inside, and a fabulous rooftop deck for watchinf the various fireworks shows.
