I have the opportunity to completely redo my scraproom and I am looking for ideas that I might not have thought of. One thing I was thinking about doing is getting the cabinets from Home Depot with the counter top. But what little or big things would you change if you could? I can't wait to here your ideas! :hyper2:

i saw a picture of the greatest thing-
if space allows I will put it in my scrap room-

you take those white metal shelves they sell at home depot for clostes - and flip is so the lip is on the bottom - but facing up - mount it to the wall - with just a two inch spacer under the bottom...
then the person had all their paper spread out - in piles of matching stuff so she could see it all with out shuffeling through anything!

Me too! I just have storage boxes in the dining room that are permanently in the way!

My DH and I are currently house hunting and one of the things we are looking for is a scrapping/stamping room for me. LOL He keeps going nope this won't work I can't build good shelving in here. Gotta love a supportive hubby.

Here is a link to my current scrapbook room. I am looking for ideas for my new room, like things you wish you had done. Or things you have done and don't like. It's easy to look at pictures and see things you like but it is better to talk to someone who actually has it and has an opinion on it. I painted my new room yesterday, I finally decided it is going to be pink and brown. Thanks for any ideas.

OMG I remember when I first saw that scraproom on 2peas - it's gorgeous! Are you repainting it (which is crazy!) or did you buy a new house?

My scraproom is currently under construction. I will have a long countertop and DH just put two outlets along the wall so that they will be above the counter. I will also have two under the counter as well. We will build cabinets on the two ends and a smaller cabinet that I plan to hold paper in the middle for support. I am modeling some things after this scraproom I saw on twopeas and has also been linked here before. http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/pg.asp?gallery=1&cmd=display&layout_id=470167&show=3

One thing to consider: I have a large island style countertop from my old house that I like for scrapping -- it's deeper than a regular countertop. We salvaged it when we redid (and then sold the dang house) the counter tops. It is ideal for scrapping, much better than a regular table. I can fit two stools and work at that. DH attached a board to the wall for support and built two legs for the non-wall side.

I am also going to steal an idea from Pottery Barn. It's basically a shelf with holes for cups. You can put scissors, pens, etc. in them. It's in their latest catalog.

Another idea I hope to implement is a deep shelf near my big scrap table so I can just put the album/pages I'm working on up w/o having to clean up. Hope that makes sense. DH also wired a box so I can put up task lighting over my big table. The room has recessed lighting.

I also plan to have a gift wrap station using curtain rods or some type of hardware like that. I'll leave the rolls of paper on it, kind of like you'd see in a dept. store where they do gift wrap.

I plan to start doing the CMC thing soon, so I will also do some custom shelving in one of the closets (actually, it will be one big closet, but will have two sets of double doors.)

Hope this helps some.

Thanks! :flower: My husband and I built our house 6 years ago this month. Three years later we finished the basement so my daughter could be in the larger "princess room" (it has a turret), we could have a guest bedroom with a bathroom attached (for both of our moms to visit) and my 2 step daughters could have seperate rooms. They also were finally old enough to need their oun space to get away from us. Well, now three years the oldest is off the college and the other daughter is too busy to ever come to our house. (They have both spent Christmas only with us in the past 2 years). I planned my scraproom when we finished the basement for the room with the most windows but to still be out of the way. I had drawn plans for two huge closets to be built on one wall with only 3 inches inbetween them. Unfortunately the day they framed my scraproom, I was at work and when the builder questioned my husband about the specs, he told them to center the 2 closets on the wall. (I am normally a very (anal) perfectly lined up person) But I had planned for my table to go just to the side of one of the closets and then I could have 2 tables in an L shape. I was not very happy when I got home :headache: and saw how the room had been framed and I could have changed it, but I felt bad and didn't want to make the guys build it again. So, now that I have started a novel ;) I was never truly happy with the room in the first place. I have tried several ways to change it, but it has never worked. Well, I share a room with my DD and she is really starting to invade :crowded: my space with her toys and we are always stepping all over each other in there. I was going to make her playroom in the back bedroom but she refuses to go in there. (It is in the very back corner with no windows) So I could understand her concern. Well since this room has more wall space and built in bookshelves that run floor to ceiling, I have decided to make everyone happy ;) and make a new scraproom. Now, that is why I am looking for ideas. And if you are still reading this, bless your soul!
Oh, I guess I should have mentioned that I am a dental hygientist by trade but an interior designer at heart. I have already redone all of the rooms in my house (in the 6 years that we have been here) except for one bath and the study. So, I guess I just really wanted to have something new to decorate! :hyper:
soccerchick-
Wow! You have really been planning this out! Thanks for the ideas! I really like the paper storage in the room you admire. I wish my DH could make me one!

Luckily for me, DH is more anal than me :teeth: I am also lucky that he likes to do this stuff. Our basement will be nicer than the main part of our house by the time he gets through with it. It will have my craft/scrap cave, the toy cave, and the "man" cave. He's almost done with all the wiring and we hire out for the drywall. I'm hoping to be done by summer. We'll see.

I would just like to have one!!!! :rotfl:
All my stuff is jammed into storage things right now amd
Its such a pain in the bum! :scared:

My area is very simple. But if I could change anything it would be the lighting. I just don't have enough! I am in the basement too and have a lamp but I need something more! May ask for an ott light or something like that...
