If you bring food into the parks, where do you eat it?

I usually bring my own food but decided to go with the QSDP this trip. It's Friday, I arrived on Sunday and am really getting tired of Disney eats 24/7. It was fun at first (Cupcakes for breakfast, anyone?) but is definitely getting old.

I think I would get sick of quick service all of the time too. I would have to add in something else, like meatloaf from The Plaza or the turkey diner from The Liberty Tree Tavern.

There are picnic tables behind sleepy hollow. They are usually filled with funnel cake eaters during the parade and fireworks, but during the day, there is usually few people there.

We don't take full lunches into the parks, but we do take in snacks and deserts. In the Magic Kingdom, we can enjoy our treats on the benches of the train station and overlooking the beginning of Main Street while we plan the remainder of our day and people watch. In EPCOT there are tables and chairs to the right side of the entrance to the main pavilion building. These are usually half empty and a good place to rest and have a snack. If you find bringing food into the parks works best for your budget or needs to happen for medical reasons, or you just want to do it ..... then find yourself a bench, sit on a wall, plop yourself down along the parade route, and enjoy whatever you bring in.

I've always wanted to bring a lunch over to Tom Sawyer's Island. Even if it was a QS kids meal (I'm thinking uncrustables. Those are delicious!) and just relaxing/people watching wherever we get a spot. I sat on the rocking chairs overlooking BTMRR once with my DF and we loved just taking 20/30 minutes to sit down, relax, and do something outside the typical hustle and bustle.

With the dietary restrictions that many people have, whether medical, personal or religious, Disney will likely always allow food and drinks in.

In our litigious society, it is easier for Disney to allow food in than have grandma pass out from dehydration or low blood sugar because she couldn't bring in her special spring water from the peak of Mount Fiji or the banana that she has to eat every day at 1:35 pm

It's troubles me a bit to see a response so dismissive of others' needs. What may seem frivolous to others might be very genuine indeed.

I would think an outdoor table at a qs place would be ok, but wouldn't take an inside table without eating from that establishment. Although there are always ways around that such as buying drinks or something small from that restaurant. Personally, I've never brought in full meals, just quick snacks and things for the kids when I was worried they wouldn't like what was offered.

Disney does seem to be opening up new areas in the parks where you can just sit down and relax. Those would obviously be the ideal spots. I wouldn't take up tables because I'd be miffed myself if I had just payed $$$ for a meal at Disney World and couldn't find a table because people were sitting there eating their PB&J. :D I think most of the time we've done it, we've just found a public area where we can sit and eat. Some of us might stand and eat. Usually, lunch would be a quick meal - like a sandwich, fruit, drink and chips. Kids would usually polish it off quickly and we'd be on our way.

I feel that meals are a time to sit and relax. Eating in line doesn't appeal to me at all. Many times we bring our lunch into the parks. But I prefer finding a quiet spot to eat, relax and regroup. I choose out of the way places such as behind Space Mountain in MK or behind the perfume shop in France, Epcot, or a bench near first aid in AK and HS.

If it has been mentioned before, I didn't notice, but the theater for Beauty and the Beast or Indianna Jones is another place to sit and eat while waiting for the show to start.

There is a quiet tent in the dumbo area that has couches, picnic tables, and 4 charging stations. We ate our packed lunch there and relaxed. We felt like it was a secret hide away, as no one else was there.

We sit at any QS restaurant. When we were planning our very first trip, there were many posts on how people should not be using QS because they are for paying customers. For the whole week, I would ask a CM before sitting our family down at a table if it was OK to eat our lunch there and every single one of them told me it was OK.

We eat at off-peak hours though, usually lunch at 11 and dinner at 5. There are barely people eating at the same time as us.

I wasn't being dismissive. I am serious. Disney will not stop allowing a certain amount of outside food in because of medical, personal and religious dietary restrictions.

What you are misunderstanding is the timing of the Grandma quote. You see this thread is old. The day I posted that comment, much of the discussion revolved around a family that is suing Disney because Grandma died 3 days after their trip to Disney. Family says she was traumatized when her grandson got bitten by a snake at Animal Kingdom.

As an aside, I am the mother of a special needs child and a nurse. I bring food in the parks for my son all the time.

We have eaten our packed lunches on tom Sawyer island many times. There is a gazebo with tables that overlook the water. It is so nice and peaceful there and usually nobody else is there! We have also sat on the benches that line the walkway by the water in Frontierland. In Epcot, we have eaten on benches outside of Test track. We prefer to bring lunch in, not only to save money, but also because we get sick of eating junk food.

We find a bench outside usually near the lockers where we store the food. Or sometimes if we have a long wait will eat a sandwich waiting for a show or something.

This year we have 12 people in our group:) we have reservations at yak and yeti, raglan road, brown derby and bog currently. But also we will be taking sandwiches in on a few days (8 park days)

On the menu thus far...nutty bird sandwiches--homemade whole wheat bread, freshly cooked turkey, alfalfa sprouts sunflower seeds and a wee bit of cream cheese. :)

Roast beef, cooked up that morning. (Easy since my mom is 81 and is awake every day at 3:30!) horse radish from our garden, and on daves killer bread. (Buy some if you ever see it!!)

And turkey and cilantro wraps. With added sprouts, and whatever anyone wants that morning.

Any of these beat the counter service options at mk and mgm. Ak has barbecue and Epcot EVERYTHING!

We usually just have a seat on a bench or wall:) if people are ordering salads or fries then we will go early or late and sit in a restaurant. (But we also travel off season) we have 2 80+ parents, and a special needs child in our party. One type one and one type two diabetic... So common sense and healthy choices are a must. :)

Eta sclepping is easy. 2 ecv's and a stroller as a medical device.

What you're misunderstanding is that your comments as written were skeptical and dismissive of grandma's need to bring in specific items, no matter if they were written a year ago or yesterday. It bothered me particularly because it came from someone asking for awareness about a special need. If you can't hear it, try reading it back substituting comments about the foods you bring in for your son. If you're wanting awareness and understanding, you've got to give it and show how it's done.

I think some people have sarcastic senses of humor and other people are very easily offended. It doesn't mean that either person is a bad person. It just means that in real life they probably wouldn't gravitate to one another.

This is a message board that attracts all kinds. You and I are probably nice people, but probably wouldn't be friends in real life

No biggie.

Curiously enough I'm a fan of sarcasm and dark humor.

Lol I can make a better sandwich than qs any day of the week. And better fresh fruit, organic, etc. Apparently you do drink the koolaid, lol

I bet your sandwiches and fruit are delicious, hunty! But no, I haven't had kool aid since I was a wee one. Just don't like hauling all that stuff into the parks while on vacation. We usually eat at our resort, though. Not big fans of park counter service. Thanks for sharing tales of your culinary skills!:thanks:

To each his own, but I don't think I'd have much of an appetite eating where folks are changing their snowflakes' soiled huggies.o_O

LOL! Just reread your post and I thought it said CHANGING stations, not CHARGING stations! I thought that was a weird place to put picnic tables! My bad, Fabnsab!
