If you bring a backpack (ie Kelty KIDS), how do you get it down there?

DH and I purchased a Kelty KIDS Pathfinder for our trip down to the World. We are unsure of the best way to get it down to Disney. Should we ship it? Pack in and check-it through luggage?

Just curious what other folks have done when bringing large items like this down?

I'd leave it at home, that thing is huge! Won't you get hot with that on your back, as it can be over 95'F at WDW, with the humidity making it feel like over 100'F? Won't the kid get hot in there too, with that bubble thing over the head? I know it's for shade, but it seems kind of enclosing.

If you really want to haul it down there, stuff it in a duffle bag and check it, or use it at the airport and have them gate-check it for you with the strollers.

Ya, I know it's big and bulky. We hang it off the back of our Pliko P3 when we take it out. But, our DS loves being in it - we will probably use it as an alternative to the stroller when he gets cranky. DH doesn't mind wearing it....although we have not used it down in very humid weather!!

I was thinking of gate-checking it - I just wasn't sure if they would let me!!

DH found a huge duffel bag that it fit in and checked it as luggage. No problem using it in the parks at all, DH preferred it to a stroller. The next year we drove, so it was no problem to get it there.

You and baby are going to get VERY hot. I live in Florida and I have "worn" both of my babies, but never during the summer months outdoors. They are way too miserable and sweaty when being worn.
