If you are looking for a good champagne reasonably priced

All seem to be great choices.

But you didn't define "reasonably priced". Under $10, Under $20, Under $30? Above $30 is moving out of reasonable in my book.
Our special occassion wine now is Schramsberg Blanc De Noirs which I can find for $25 -$27.
We used to be huge Dom Pérignon fans back in the mid 1980's when it was still under $40 a bottle. We stopped buying it after it crested $40, and good lord now it's over $100. Wish my salary had skyrocketed like that!!

Try the Domaine Ste Michelle Brut. I think it's better than the Schramsberg Blanc De Noirs, which is also very good, and less than half the price.

I don't like Dom Perignon..but Schramsberg Mirabelle Brut (in the $20 range) is nice. I think (depends on my mood) that I prefer prosecco to champagnes and other sparkling wines.

I have no idea how long it has been imported, but I know that it was always free flowing at my parent's Christmas party in the early 80's where I would sit like a good little girl at the edge of the playroom getting a glimpse of their famous Christmas parties while sneaking views in my footie pajamas. It very well could have been available before then, but my gut says if it was free flowing in the deep south suburbs of New Orleans it was likely available before then in the USA. The brand was purchased by the LVMH group, Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton in the 80s and I would bet money that it was a well know brand before then or a large conglomerate would not take a risk on a complete unknown. Champagnes, wines, etc are partially built on taste but most are built on brand hype and advertising. The non vintage VC is a marketing dream and satisfies the public, please give me a bottle of Le Grande Dame and I will be happy. ;) We make a $50 field bet everytime we walk into the Paris casino and if we win we walk over and buy a bottle of Le Grande Dame if we win, such a treat. :rotfl:

First imported in 1984; purchased by LVMH in 1986.

my favorite is Schramsberg - located in northern Napa county and has a wonderful tour! It's pricey but worth every penny if you are a champagne/sparkling wine lover.

I like that they produce sparkling wine at different price points.

The Mirabelle Brut and Brut Rose are $20-25, these are non-vintage.

The Schramsberg Blanc de Blancs (Chardonnay based). Blanc de Noirs (Pinot Noir based), and Brut Rose are vintage, aged 3 years in the bottle. Retail is $35-40.

The Schramsberg Brut Rose is my favorite, I love to drink this when we go out to a restaurant featuring small plates - it goes with everything.

High end ($100) is the J.Schram (chardonnay based) or Reserva (Pinot Noir based). Aged 6 years. IMO better than Dom and lower in price.
