If you are a Florida resident - great rates!

OK, tell me how the residents of Florida make more profitable guests than those of us traveling from out of state.

They get nicer discounts and perks! Somebody explain this to me...

I used this code this morning. I had reservations at CBR for $99 and with this code it was changed to $84 a night! My reservations were through Dreams Unlimited and I emailed my agent early this morning. She emailed me back in less than 5 minutes and had it all changed. With tax, I'm saving $16.64 a night. Also, I'm using the Florida Residence 4 Day Park Hopper for $99.00. For once it pays to live in FLORIDA!

Maybe Disney follows Oz's Dorothy's philosophy -

"I don't have to look any further than my own backyard."

Babblin'Boo,

The thinking is that people haven't stopped wanting vacations, they just stopped wanting to fly, so Disney is going after those within driving distance it can lure. This time last year there were codes out the whazoo for northern states, we got PO/Riverside for $99 on a PA residents discount. Hadto settle for the Dolphin Teacher's Discount this year.

well Babblin'Boo i really dont think anyone is saying florida residents make more profitable guests but it sure sounds like you think we are not as profitable when im sure i spend just as much as any person from out of town when i visit and in the off season got o the parking lots and you will find mostly fl plates..anyway all of the people who received those postcards with pin# were not from florida....also a lot of fl residents(at least my friends) think its more economical to either drive up for the day or spend a short weekend and stay offsite since we have all been so many times and i think this is there way to try and tempt us to stay onsite and believe me it works...kmc

Plus, if you notice, they special offers are only for specific dates in the near future. I think this is because they know FL residents are far more able to go, "Oh that's a good rate, lets drive over to Orlando for the weekend/week/whatever" I have never seen FL resident rates for the resorts far in advance. We can fill up those remaining rooms at the last minute.

I am so so SO glad we are moving to Florida. Disney discounts, lower property taxes and NO STATE INCOME TAX! YEA! (you notice what was at the top of my list?)

Also the Florida Resident rates are not as great as they sound. I called to use the new one that just started today and couldnt get ANYTHING but POR or CS everything else was booked solid. This was 15 minutes after CRO opened this morning so it couldnt be that every FL resident had called on it kwim. There was little or no availability to begin with when the code came out. Now that might be for my time of travel but still. You would think that 15 minutes into the code there would be availability at more than two resorts. The codes are supposed to be for all three levels, value, mod, and deluxe. I couldnt get a even a deluxe at the code rate.

lvs_eeyore,
I also called today and couldn't get a room at a deluxe resort. We had to settle for POR, which is okay too, but I agree they should have had more availability since the codes were just released. I won't complain too much, though. We love POR and we are getting the $94 rate with 10% discount on UHP's. We're saving about $400 for the 3 days we'll be there. I just wish we were going in time to take advantage of the Play 4 Days pass for Fla residents! That is a great deal! :) Maybe next time...

I have to admit, I don't think the savings are that great either. Last Oct (I had made the ressies back in the summer) I got the AS Music for the $49 rate. (I stay here the night before I check into OKW w/ DVC) this fall, the best rate I've found is the AP rate $66.25 after taxes. According to Mary's chart the current rate is approximately $64.00 so it's not that big a savings to me. Now the 4 day $99 pass.... well if I didn't have an AP, I'd wish I was a Florida resident!

Thanks momoftwins - we called today and saved over $30 on our YC trip next month.
