If we want to try something different, where would you suggest?

It would be a great choice on a park hopping day if you do one between EPCOT and the Studios. If no park hopping, from the hotel I would take the bus to the Studios and then boat to Boardwalk. If too late to use the Studios bus to get back to POP you could easily UBER there for minimal cost.
My son has year pass so no problem in park hopping and I am leaning to get hopper ticket. Do we walk? My son mentined he thought he saw Boardwalk close by Epcot(?) when he did his 1/2 marathon and it was walking distance. I have "feet problem" so trying to avoid much walking as possible.

EDIT: Those who went to Trattoria Al Forno and Mama Rose. Which do you like better? They seem to be around the same price range?

The Boardwalk is close to the World Showcase/International Gateway entrance in EPCOT, so at the back of the park. If you were there and touring, you could leave the International Gateway and take a boat to Boardwalk; it is a short walk of about 10 minutes. From there you can boat back to EPCOT or over to the Studios.

You may not want to go back into EPCOT to catch a bus in order to return to the hotel - you have to walk the length of EPCOT to get to the bus area. If you were looking to catch a bus to POP you would want to use the boat service to/from Boardwalk and to/from Studios.

Actually I am open to buffet, just don't want "American" buffet.

Been reading about Boma so I might be tempted to try.....

Oh, forgot to mention, my son doesn't like breakfast food. He can eat anything in the morning as long as it's not "breakfast" food. :)

Sorry, we are picky.....not crazy about Hawaiin food...too sweet. Also, we did Hawaiin cruise so did all the "Hawaii" things such as laua....

Have a car? Villa de Flora at Gaylord palm

My fiance and I are going to Disney for our honeymoon. Do any of you have a recommendation for a good "splurge" restaurant experience one night?

I think the "go-to's" would be Cali Grill, Narcoose's, Citricos, Yachtsman (if you like steak). Cali Grill was nice and a great view and if you like sushi it is good. That's the only one i have eaten at, but I think next time I want to try Citricos or Narcoose's. Check out the menus and see what you like best! Then there's the nice restaurants over at AKL but I'm not familiar with those (Sanaa, Jiko, Artist Point). I'm sure I'm missing a bunch as well.

For a non-American buffet, you can't go wrong with Boma or Tusker House. Tusker House is good for you Animal Kingdom day. Boma (or Sanaa) is trickier because of transportation to Animal Kingdom Lodge. I've done it two ways. Pop - Animal Kingdom - Animal Kingdom Lodge. Eat and reverse. Last trip, we took Uber from Pop to AKL and back. About $10 each way and great savings in time. Be sure the Uber driver knows to ake you to Animal Kingdom Lodge, not Animal Kingdom!

If you go with Boma or Sanaa, both offer late afternoon culinary/cultural tours. We toured the Boma and Jiko with samples in both restaurants in April, very good, free activity.

This tour sounds great, when did you do it? The reason I ask is my daughter and I have a Sanaa reservation for July 2 and I think that this would be great, then get the van to take us to Kidani.

The tour starts 3:45, 45 minutes before the restaurant opens.

There might also be a tour at Sanaa. Call to confirm. Here's an old blog post.

Victoria & Alberts
Yachtsman Steakhouse
California Grill
Le Cellier
Narcoosee's

Probably in that order. V&A is definitely number one on the list.

We really liked Boma. We took a small amount of everything and tasted and compared what we liked (and didn't!) so it was a great experience, not just 'dinner'. Plus the atmosphere and smells make it a really unique experience. We also had great food at House of Blues...lots of different flavors and again, a very cool atmosphere. I think because HOB isn't Disney owned they sometimes have coupons and special discounts. The first time we went there because we had a restaurant.com gift certificate and were trying to save money. The second time we went we had a coupon of some sort as well. We'd go back without the discounts though because the food is great and very large portions.

I checked with the BWI IPO and the emailed me back to say that Sanaa is currently not doing a culinary tour. Boo. Changed our dinner to a lunch as we find the meal so heavy, think that lunch will give us time to digest :D

Oh no. Did they mention when they will start the tour again? I was planning on doing the tour in first week of November.

Other than culinary tour, isn't there another tour at the same time at 4 pm?

Supposedly there is one at Boma and Jiko, but I didn't ask about it as my daughter loves Sanaa but shows no interest in the other two. I'll email and ask.

Thank you. Could you also ask if they will do culinary again?

EDIT: I am going to try Sanaa for the first time in November. Haven't had Indian food over 25 years. For sure I am going to order the bread service but not sure about the main course. What do you guys eat there?

We love the butter chicken. The portions are pretty generous there. They have an entree both lunch and dinner that is two items with basmati rice. My husband and I and my daughter and I have both split that with an extra serving of rice and just ordered double butter chicken. With the full bread service with nine items on it. It's a lot of food, and they don't criticize or look at you funny if you split an entree. I have also had the shrimp dish (Durban Shrimp maybe?) and it was good but a little on the spicy side.

Just received the following email from IPO:

Good Evening!

Currently, Animal Kingdom Lodge is offering a culinary tour for Boma
each day at 3:45. This is considered a recreation offering, which they
include on their recreation guide to be received at check-in.The
Boardwalk's recreation guide will not include items for Animal Kingdom
Lodge, so your concierge can check the current information at check in
for you. Each month, there is a possibility the restaurant and times may
change. This experience is not able to be booked. it is open to all
guests and is on a first-come, first-serve basis. The location will
remain the same for the entirety of each month. I hope this information
has been helpful. If there is anything else we can do to assist, please
let us know. We look forward to speaking with you. See ya real soon!

@rcraw45425, thank you. So culinary tour is going on. I've been looking forward to it and can't wait.
I love spicy food...is that like green curry?

I think that it is ,it's been several years since I've had it, it was the first time that hubby and I ate there, before we realized how much food that was and began sharing.
This photo includes one of the combo with butter chicken some beef dish and the rice to show you how much food you get
