If We Rent Points, Is There Any Chance for Upgrade?

If we decide to do a point rental, is there any chance of being upgraded upon check-in, like there is if we are doing a hotel reservation through Disney itself? Obviously we would rent the room we want, and not expect an upgrade, but I was simply curious if we will still have the small chance of an upgrade.

Members staying on points are not upgraded to larger rooms than what is reserved. This has been the norm. The same would apply if you are renting.

Besides, if you did talk your way into an upgrade, the owner of the points would be charged for the additional points, and I'm sure that would be no way to stay in very good standing with the owner. I know it is one of the things that makes me not want to rent to people I don't know.

The only way you might get something other than what you reserved would be for the last villa of the category you booked to be taken out of service suddenly for maintenance and there are no others to give to you. On occasion a guest on points might be upgraded if they only have a night or two stay and DVC needs the room they have booked to make someone else's stay work. Cash reservations have a better chance of upgrades.

Me too. Op, having a reservation on points is not the same as going through Disney. You can cause a problem for the owner with asking for changes at the desk, this would include changing guest names', or upgrades. Best to deal with the owner you are renting from on this one.
