If we have to RD FoP, does EMH help?

We have a two day trip coming up in mid December to use remaining days on our military tickets (so we are not able to easily add days). We are staying onsite but it looks unlikely that we will get FPs for FOP at 62 days based on recent reports.

Of the two park days, one has 8AM EMH at AK, and one has a regular 9AM opening for AK. Would it make a difference to our wait time if we did the EMH day versus the regular opening day, assuming we get to either park day one hour to opening time (so 7AM for the EMH day or 8AM for the regular day)? I tend to think earlier is more difficult for people, so maybe the EMH is the best bet for a short SB wait, but the regular park opening day works better with our other plans. Thanks!

I've been wondering this too! I'm trying to set our schedule for December and we either have to do EMH at both AK and EP or neither. Trying to figure out which would be better.

We were there in August and found the better strategy was to enter the line about 10 minutes prior to park closing. Posted wait time for us was 75 minutes. Real wait time was about 45 minutes.

I haven't done AK rope drop on a non-EMH day, but we did it on an EMH day last month and found it very manageable. We arrived at 7am for an 8am opening. It wasn't nearly as stressful as non-EMH mornings seem, judging from blog posts and pictures I've seen.

Thanks for all of the quick replies. I know at DLR, where we have been twice this year, the 7AM opening is great because it seems very hard for folks to mobilize the troops that early. I know we will still be with LOTS of others, even at 7AM, but maybe the best option. So, I will either do it with a 7AM arrival on the EMH day, or do it at park close if we fail to mobilize ourselves for EMH!!
