If we don't do online check in for WDW resort would room still be guaranteed/assigned or not

I'm just curious if we don't do online check-in for the Disney resort and do it at the front desk is there a risk that we won't get room assigned and rooms at resort could be overbooked?
Or wouldn't it make any difference we'd still get room assigned if we check in online or at front desk?

I haven't checked in online for over a year now and I've never had issues checking in at the front desk. I much prefer checking in in-person at the resort.

It doesn’t matter. Online checkin simply gets some of the paperwork done in advance, like linking a credit card to your account, setting PINs for charging to your room, etc. Doing online checkin also means you can receive your room number via text and/or in the MDE app and be able to go straight to your room. But not doing online checkin won’t affect which room you get or lead to the resort being overbooked.

If you don't do online check in then you have to visit the front desk before going to your resort room. If you do online check in then you have the option to either go to the front desk when you arrive or go straight to your resort room without going to the front desk. Online check in doesn't change your ability to ask for a different room if you don't like the one you were assigned.
